Netflix have released the first official trailer for the forthcoming biopic series of the late iconic Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla.

Selena: The Series, created by Zamora, with Don Todd, is due to arrive onto the streaming platform on December 4. The new first look trailer sees the project’s star, Christian Serratos, who appears alongside the likes of Ricardo Chavira, Seidy Lopez, Gabriel Chavarria, Noemi Gonzalez and more.

“Before she became the Queen of Tejano Music, Selena Quintanilla was a young girl from Texas with big dreams and an even bigger voice,” the official synopsis reads. “Selena: The Series explores her journey from singing small gigs to becoming the most successful female Latin artist of all time — and the years of hard work and sacrifice the Quintanilla family navigated together.”

The project has pulled together an esteemed production staff with the likes of Jaime Dávila, Rico Martinez, Hiromi Kamata, Suzette Quintanilla, Simran A. Singh and Moises Zamora all taking up the role of executive producers. The series is also being produced by Campanario Entertainment alongside Selena’s father, Abraham, and sister, Suzette, while based on a screenplay by Moisés Zamora for Netflix.

“Selena is an inspirational figure who’s transcended generations. At Campanario, we’ve always known it was crucial for this series to find actors with the right mix of talent, charisma, and passion to honour Selena’s legacy and the story of her family,” Jaime Davila, president and co-founder of Campanario Entertainment, said. “Our casting director Carla Hool and her team have found an amazing cast to depict the Quintanilla family, and we’re sure fans everywhere will be captivated yet again by Selena’s incredible life.”
