Just in time for the FIFA World Cup 2026, Netflix seized the opportunity to bring the most exciting announcement of the hour regarding one of the UK’s most popular soccer podcasts, The Rest Is Football.

Hosted by English soccer MVPs Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, and Micah Richards, The Rest Is Football is officially making its way to the Big Apple this time around as a daily show during the course of the highly anticipated tournament.

Lineker is an ex-striker for Leicester City FC, Everton FC, FC Barcelona, and Tottenham Hotspur FC and also a recipient of the Golden Boot award for England at the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Fresh off his monumental career, Lineker made himself right at home in the media world afterwards as the anchor of the BBC’s Match of the Day for over two decades.

Shearer is an all-time leading scorer in English Premier League History, having played for Southampton FC, Blackburn Rovers FC, and Newcastle United FC. He was also the captain for England at the 1998 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2000. Meanwhile, Richards was a former right back for Manchester City FC, ACF Fiorentina, and Aston Villa FC. His Hall of Fame credits include the English Premier League and FA Cup titles.

Scheduled to premiere on June 10th, the forthcoming podcast on Netflix is expected to feature game analysis, special guests, high-profile interviews, and insights into on and off-field action. In a conversation with Tudum, Lineker expressed his excitement, saying, “We can’t wait to bring The Rest Is Football to Netflix for the 2026 World Cup.”
