Netflix announces its first series with Emmy-nominee Connor Hines, ‘Jupiter Island’
Netflix is never really short of surprises, and viewers saw a part of it at the recent Emmy nominations, where the streamer snagged a whopping 111 nods. But in a move that no one probably saw coming, the streaming giant just inked its first deal with Connor Hines for Jupiter Island, hot on the heels of his first Emmy nod for Love Story: John F Kennedy & Carolyn Bessette.
Produced in partnership with A24, the golf drama marks the first series in a new, groundbreaking creative collaboration that has bloomed between Hines and Netflix. Bad Wolf’s Julie Garner is set to executive produce.
Speaking of his forthcoming venture and the partnership that currently has the internet on a chokehold, Hines told Tudum, “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Netflix, A24, and Bad Wolf’s Julie Gardner. I’ve been living with the world of Jupiter Island for quite some time, and I’m so excited and lucky to bring it to life with such amazing collaborators.”
Jupiter Island is an upcoming Netflix series that unfolds in the elite world of professional golfers and their wives on the “ultra-exclusive Jupiter Island.” But that very high-profile world is turned upside down when an enigmatic outsider enters the scene, armed with a secret that could really upend golf’s reigning power couple.
Jinny Howe, the Netflix head of scripted series US and Canada, expressed their excitement about having Hines on board. “Connor has a rare gift for rich, character-driven storytelling that shines through again in Jupiter Island, reflecting our commitment to delivering premium television to engage our audiences,” she said.
“His recent Emmy nomination is proof he’s just getting started, and we’re excited for everything that comes next.”
While Howe couldn’t have said truer words, the majority of Jupiter Island’s details remain under wraps. As of now, Netflix has yet to reveal the names or unveil the faces who would breathe life into Hines’ story.
