Netflix adds new ‘Moments’ feature to allow users to share favourite scenes

Netflix has added a new feature to its mobile platform which will allow fans of all the streaming giant’s shows and movies to easily save and share their favourite scenes with friends and family.

Dubbed ‘Moments’, the feature debuted on October 28th on Netflix’s iOS app, with a planned rollout on Android devices set to follow. The ‘It’s So Good’ marketing campaign also accompanied the launch, which featured stars like Simone Biles, Giancarlo Esposito, and Cardi B geeking out about their personal favourite Netflix moments.

In a statement, Netflix said, “With ‘Moments’, members can quickly bookmark a scene while watching on their phone, saving it directly to their My Netflix tab for easy access later. Members can also share their favourite scenes across platforms like Instagram and Facebook, creating a seamless way to engage with their favorite content and share it with friends. We’re excited to add even more features in the future to help members enjoy and share their favourite Netflix moments.”

According to Netflix spokesperson Dorian Rosenburg, the streamer doesn’t currently plan to bring the feature to its web or television platforms. However, it has assured fans that they don’t need to fret about running out of space if they save too many ‘Moments’.

Rosenburg told The Verge, “The number of ‘Moments’ you can save depends on the length of the content. However, there’s plenty of space to save your favourite ‘Moments’, so most members won’t need to worry about a limit when it comes to saving across multiple shows and movies.”

Better Call Saul star Esposito and Biles explained their involvement in the advertising campaign. Esposito said, “I know firsthand there’s something magical that happens when a powerful story finds its audience on Netflix. Suddenly, everyone is captivated and can’t stop talking about it, and that passion just keeps compounding.”

Biles added, “When I get hooked by a story, I go deep. It happens all the time — I’m watching a scene and have to find someone to talk to about it. At the end of the day, I’m a fan who obsesses over shows like everyone else.”

Finally, Netflix Marketing Chief Marian Lee told Variety, “You know that feeling when a scene, character, or line from a show or movie just sticks with you, and you can’t help but text your friends, ‘You have to watch this, it’s so good!?’ Whether it’s sparking Halloween costume ideas or becoming a TikTok sensation, the incredible fandoms we see are a testament to what makes Netflix amazing. Our new campaign is all about celebrating these unforgettable moments, taking you back to the feeling you had when you first became obsessed with a great show on Netflix.”
