We are officially six months into 2021, attending online classes and working from home while playing films and shows in the background to blur out a sense of boredom and stagnancy in our lives. Streaming platforms like Netflix, Peacock, Hulu and Amazon Prime have been loyal companions, helping us stay sane in such unprecedented situations. While Netflix is extremely promising with its interesting and fresh line-up every month, the platform also omits a wide number of TV shows and films as well as documentaries to make space for the same. While we are often glad when shows or films that do not resonate with us are removed, we are often left sad and confused when fan-favourites leave the site. 

June 2021 has been interesting indeed with a series of new shows and films gracing the platform. July seems to be even more promising with new seasons of Never Have I Ever and Virgin River. Love Actually, the coveted Christmas rom-com is finally going to be available for streaming on the platform much to the delight of loyal fans to whom the holiday classic can usher in the Christmas spirit any time of the year.

However, June 2021 has some of the most bittersweet goodbyes in terms of films as well. With films like Notting Hill, Brokeback Mountain, Scarface and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs leaving, the platform shall indeed seem a lot less lively. From watching Ennis and Jack being embroiled in the web of sensual homoeroticism and doomed romance spun by the brilliant Ang Lee to watching Hugh Grant’s nerdy bookstore owner romancing Julia Roberts as a diva in the classic rom-com Notting Hill, fans have only made good memories watching the films and with their departure, there shall be a void in their hearts. Hopefully, the new arrivals make their way into their hearts in a similar fashion!
