‘Mobland’: Tom Hardy’s biggest crime hit is now on Netflix ahead of season 2
In the mood for some gangster drama and double-crosses? Then MobLand might be right up your street. It has finally landed on Netflix, and the timing couldn’t be much better with season two already on the way.
The series takes you straight into London’s criminal underworld, where trust doesn’t last long and loyalty, well, that is in short supply. Right in the middle of it all is Harry Da Souza, played by Tom Hardy, a fixer whose job is sorting out the Harrigan family’s mess before everything goes completely off the rails.
Then you’ve got the Harrigans themselves. Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren play Conrad and Maeve, the husband-and-wife team running one of London’s most feared crime families. Brosnan’s brilliant as the ruthless boss, but it’s Mirren who really steals the show. She managed to pull off both being calm and coming off worse together, which is harder than it looks.
You might wonder what makes MobLand more than just another gangster series. Aye, there is plenty of violence, but at the end, it’s really about family and what people’ll do to hang onto power.
Turns out people couldn’t get enough of it either. It became Paramount+’s biggest non-American original and didn’t waste any time when it got the chance to stream on Netflix.
And it gets even better. Season two of MobLand is officially happening, with filming already wrapped. They are keeping the details close to their chest, but it’s expected to pick up after season one’s explosive finish and take the story beyond London.
The only thing is, you’ll have to hang on a bit if Netflix is where you’re watching. MobLand season two is going to Paramount+ first before making its way over internationally.
Still, that’s no bad thing. It gives you plenty of time to catch up, with all 10 episodes of season one streaming on Netflix now. Just don’t blame us if you end up bingeing the whole season in just one weekend.
