Millie Bobby Brown to star in new Netflix fantasy film ‘Damsel’

Stranger Things actor Millie Bobby Brown has officially been cast in the starring role the upcoming Netflix fantasy film, Damsel.

Brown, who has not only taken on the leading role for the picture, but he will also be taking up duties as an executive producer on the film. Damsel is set to be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo from a script written by Dan Mazeau. The streaming giant took to Twitter to confirm the news, writing: “New Millie Bobby Brown movie alert!! Brown will star in and executive produce DAMSEL, a new fantasy film from director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and screenwriter Dan Mazeau. Coming to Netflix.”

The film is set to see Brown play the role of Princess Elodie, her character believes she is marrying Prince Henry but her fate is rather different when she learns that she is actually being sacrificed to a dragon, according to Deadline. No additional cast members have been confirmed alongside Brown as of yet.

Damsel will be the second time that Brown has linked up with Netflix following Enola Holmes, but this will be her first role as an executive producer.

The actor recently discussed how she nearly ended up quitting her acting career after being rejected for a role in Game Of Thrones. “I think I was just very disheartened by the rejection, which is something I tell everyone,” Brown said during an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon last month.

“Like, this industry is just full of rejection, 24/7. You get far more nos—a lot of nos—before you get a yes. I was auditioning for commercials, for anything, really. I then auditioned for Game of Thrones and I got a ‘no’ for that. Then that’s kind of when I was like, ‘Oh, this is really difficult,’ because I guess I really wanted that role.”
