After a recent medical scare, heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson has provided an update on his health ahead of his fight with Jake Paul, which will air on Netflix.
Tyson suffered a health scare while flying from Miami to Los Angeles over the weekend, when an ulcer flare up led him to feel unwell. An announcement was reportedly given to passengers requesting the help of any medical professionals on board. Paramedics later boarded the plane.
Now, Tyson has taken to X to share a brief update on his health status ahead of his fight with YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul. “Now feeling 100%,” he wrote, “even though I don’t need to be to beat Jake Paul.”
The boxer is set to enter the ring with Paul in just under two months on July 20th. The fight will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Texas, but it will also be available for live streaming exclusively via Netflix.
Tyson has been boxing professionally since the 1980s. During this time, he became the heavyweight champion and won 50 fights. He remains one of the most well-known names in the sport despite his violent demeanour and rape conviction, for which he spent three years in prison.
Paul first ventured into the world of boxing just six years ago in 2018. Since then, he has taken on some huge names including Love Island star Tommy Fury, the half-brother of Tyson Fury. He is also set to fight fellow YouTube star KSI in a highly-anticipated but as yet unannounced match.
Boxing isn’t the only live sport Netflix are set to venture into. Earlier this year, it was announced that the service had secured exclusive streaming of WWE’s Monday Night Raw, which previously found its home on the USA Network. The wrestling show will begin broadcasting on Netflix next year.
Earlier in the year, Netflix also aired The Netflix Slam, a live tennis match between Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal which took place in early March. he game was won by Alcaraz, who currently ranks as the third best player in the world just behind Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner.
