Original ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ cast reunite for Netflix special

The original cast of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are joining forces once again, thirty years after their debut, for a new special at Netflix. The new project is titled Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, and will premiere on the streaming platform on April 19th.

The franchise’s famous slogan is “once a Ranger, always a Ranger”, hence the title of the new project, and according to the press release, it will see the Power Rangers come “face to face with a familiar threat from the past. In the midst of a global crisis, they are called on once again to be the heroes the world needs.”

Back in the famous suits are Walter Emanuel Jones, the original Black Ranger Zach; David Yost, the original Blue Ranger Billy; and Catherine Sutherland, Pink Ranger Kat from Season 3 onwards. The special will also see the return of Steve Cardenas, Season 2’s Red Ranger Rocky, Karan Ashley, Yellow Ranger Aisha, and Johnny Yong Bosch, Black Ranger Adam. Green Ranger actor Jason David Frank will not join as he passed away last year, aged 49.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jones and Yost – the Rangers with the most episodes under their belts – discussed the Power Rangers reunion. We went through the audition process together and launched the Power Rangers franchise,” Yost said of his co-star.

Jones added, “It was such a surreal experience to be on the set of Power Rangers again after 28 years.”
