‘Love Is Blind’ season 4 contestant gives formal apology following backlash

Micah Lussier has issued a formal apology following backlash related to her recent appearance in season four of Love Is Blind. The show’s fourth season arrived last Friday, but some viewers noted Lussier’s deplorable behaviour alongside fellow contestant Irina Solomonova almost from the off.

The pair could be mocking fellow contestants for expressing their emotions during dates and even eavesdropping on Amber Wilder as she tearfully lamented her rejection from Paul Peden. Many viewers became riled by the behaviour and took to social media to condemn the “mean” contestants.

Lussier, who is 27 years old, initially defended her behaviour but has now changed her tune in response to the mounting backlash. “A small note,” she wrote. “I have apologised privately to the people that were hurt on the show by my hands. I would like to apologise publicly. An emotional immaturity was shown and I will grow from it.”

“To the viewers I’ve hurt. I’m sorry I’ve triggered so many of you with my behavior. Seeing that person on the screen would make me feel the same anger. As to my comments being off: I will turn them on in time. I am doing my best to protect my mental health (deserved or not).

“It has always been something I’ve struggled with, and I know I can not better myself if I’m more unwell mentally. I hope you understand that I am taking accountability privately. I promise to do better in the future.”

Previously, Micah revealed in a social media post that her friendship with Irina and the jokes they made were coping mechanisms – a way to maintain “normalcy” on the show.

“For us, it was really helpful to have a little sense of normalcy,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “Being able to laugh and make light and make jokes and, well, maybe sometimes the jokes didn’t land or maybe it didn’t look the best, but we needed that in that moment to feel like a normal person.

“Because you’re a part of this experience that is so beyond words. To be able to make a little bit of light out of such a hard thing was really helpful. [She] and I are both in our mid-twenties. We’re just doing the best we can do. We just have to grow up from our mistakes.”

Love Is Blind is available to stream on Netflix now. New episodes are set to arrive on March 31st.
