Lindsay Lohan’s Christmas movie on Netflix includes a ‘Mean Girls’ reference

Lindsay Lohan will be returning to our screens this winter. She is scheduled to appear in Netflix’s forthcoming Christmas film Falling for Christmas. Several fans of Lohan have pointed out that the film contains an undeniable reference to the Lohan classic Mean Girls.

The synopsis for the new film reads: “A young and newly engaged heiress experiences a skiing accident. After being diagnosed with amnesia, she finds herself in the care of the handsome lodge owner and his daughter.”

The heiress described is played by Lohan, and she stars alongside Chord Overstreet of Glee, George Young, Jack Wagner and Olivia Perez. Lohan is also producing the movie, as well as starring in it, as part of a three-film deal the actor struck up with Netflix.

In the trailer, Lohan’s character is trying to regain her memories by doing “normal” Christmas activities, and throughout, the song ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ plays. As many fans of Lohan know, the song features in one of her most iconic scenes, her performance of it in Mean Girls.

In a recent interview with Netflix, Lohan shared that she was excited at the prospect of returning to acting, claiming that Falling for Christmas is “a refreshing, heart-warming romantic comedy”.

Detailing further, she added: “I miss doing those kinds of movies. All the stunt scenes were really fun for me because I haven’t gotten to do that much in a lot of my films.”

Lohan continued: “It’s just in me. It’s a part of me. Doing films, playing a character, it brings me so much joy to be able to share a story with people. To take people on that journey with me is such a blessing.” Falling for Christmas will be Lohan’s first big role in a film for nearly ten years, though she claims that acting is “like riding a bicycle.”
