Liam Hemsworth, Laura Dern star in new Netflix rom-com

Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth are set to star in an upcoming Netflix romance film. 

The film will be directed by Susannah Grant who is known for having directed Unbelievable. Titled Lonely Planet, the film will record the romantic adventure between the 55-year-old actress and the 35-year-old actor and will be set in Morocco. 

The film is being produced by Sarah Timberman and Liza Chasin from 3dot Productions among others. This is yet another project between Netflix and the production company as a part of their multi-year deal. The streamer’s upcoming thriller series Anatomy of a Scandal starring Naomi Scott is one such project. 

Other upcoming projects include Diane Cardwell’s memoir Rockaway and an adaptation of Taylor Jenkin Reid’s best-selling book The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

One time Oscar-nominee and three-time Emmy-nominee filmmaker Grant has won big at the BAFTA, WGA, PGA and Gotham Awards. She is known for having directed the acclaimed Netflix limited series Unbelievable as well as for her work in the 2006 film Catch and Release starring Jennifer Garner. 

Grant’s other works include writing credits in The Soloist, The 5th Wave, 28 Days, Erin Brockovich, Charlotte’s Web, In Her Shoes, A Cinderella Story, Pocahontas, Ever After etc.

Veteran actress Dern won her first-ever Oscar in 2020 for her supporting role in Noah Baumbach’s exceptional drama Marriage Story where she starred alongside Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver.

Dern’s brilliance has been enunciated by eight Emmy nominations, one Emmy, a BAFTA, two Critic’s Choice, five Golden Globe, two Independent Spirit, a Gotham Tribute and the Casting Society of America’s Lynn Stalmaster Awards among others. 

Dern’s filmography is vast and varied across all genres. They include Little Women, Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III, JT LeRoy, The Tale, Wilson, The Fault in Our Stars, Lonely Hearts, Blue Velvet, Mask, Inland Empire, Citizen Ruth, Certain Women etc. she has also appeared in television series like F Is for Family, Big Little Lies, Enlightened and Twin Peaks.  

Dern will next be seen in Jurassic World Dominion directed by Colin Trevorrow, which will probably bring an end to the franchise. It stars various actors from all the films, including BD Wong, Chris Pratt, Sam Neil, DeWanda Wise, Bryce Dallas Howard, Omar Sy, Justice Smith, Mamadou Athie etc.

Her other upcoming credits also include Florian Zeller’s The Son, Justin Kurzel’s Morning and Tim Harper’s Ozi

Emmy-nominee Hemsworth is known for films like Isn’t It Romantic, the Hunger Games franchise, The Last Song, The Duel, The Dressmaker, The Elephant Princess etc. he will next be seen in Russell Crowe’s second directorial feature Poker Face.
