Leanne Morgan’s hit comedy series, ‘Leanne,’ returns this summer
Almost a year after Leanne Morgan’s hit comedy series, Leanne, premiered on Netflix, it is now officially set to return this summer with its sophomore season. And we know, you can’t wait!
Netflix just went all out with its announcements, and so far, if you think only My Life with the Walter Boys is busy preparing for its comeback in August, you’re gravely mistaken.
Leanne is arriving on Netflix with its long-awaited second season on August 27th. So, save the dates and mark those calendars before you conveniently forget.
Speaking of the comeback, Morgan said to Tudum, “We’re coming back for a second season! I am so grateful to all the writers, producers, Netflix, WB, our amazing cast, and especially for all the fans of the show. Y’all did this for us, and we can’t wait to be back!”
While it’s safe to say fans are on the same boat of anticipation as those involved behind and in front of the cameras for Leanne, co-creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre added, “Much thanks and gratitude to Netflix for this amazing opportunity. Congrats to Leanne and the entire cast and crew. This has been an incredible journey that began with a visit to Knoxville, Tennessee. Leanne Morgan is the whole package. A comedic genius, a warm, loving human being, and an absolute joy to work with.”
In addition to Morgan, Kristen Johnston, Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Tim Daly, Jayma Mays, Graham Rogers, Hannah Pikes, and Andrea Anders are confirmed to return in the sophomore season from the debut instalment of Leanne. Additionally, new cast members are confirmed to appear in the forthcoming season, including Lainey Wilson, Jaime Pressly, Billy Gardell, and Tyne Daly.
For those unaware, Leanne is based on Morgan’s stand-up, I’m Every Woman. It is a 16-episode multi-camera comedy series that premiered on July 31st, quickly leaving its mark on Netflix’s global top 10 charts. The sitcom centres on Leanne, whose world unravels when her husband of 33 years leaves her after falling in love with another woman. Backed by her family, Leanne navigates heartbreak and chaos, finding strength, laughter, and hope in the places she never really looked for and proves it’s never too late to start anew.
Susan McMartin, Lorre, and Morgan have co-created and co-executive-produced the Netflix series alongside Judi Marmel and Nick Bakay. Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc and Warner Bros Television have co-produced it.
If you’re someone who has yet to find their way to Leanne’s world, season one is currently streaming on Netflix. Make the most of it ahead of the season two premiere!
