Jon Bernthal and Pablo Schrieber join Netflix thriller series ‘His & Hers’

Upcoming Netflix mini-series His & Hers has gained an added injection of star power after Jon Bernthal and Pablo Schrieber boarded the cast to join Tessa Thompson in the literary adaptation.

Thompson will play the lead role of Anna Andrews and executive produce the project, based on Alice Feeney’s novel of the same name. Although the location will be changed from the United Kingdom to Atlanta, His & Hers will retain its core plot points.

The Creed and Marvel Cinematic Universe favourite’s journalist finds herself living a quiet life of isolation after her career begins to peter out. However, when she discovers that there’s been a murder in the Georgia town in which she grew up, it reinvigorates her investigative nature and sends her back to her roots in order to unravel the mystery and uncover the truth.

Bernthal has been cast as Jack Harper, a detective at the local sheriff’s office who also happens to be Anna’s estranged husband. He lost his job and was forced to move back home, and he begins to grow increasingly suspicious of the reasons why his spouse has shown up in the middle of a murder case he’s overseeing.

Schrieber, meanwhile, has been set as a cameraman named Richard, married to a news anchor who got her job fronting a news show thanks to Anna’s absence. There are guaranteed to be twists and turns aplenty, with production now underway.

Fresh off the first Primetime Emmy win of his career for guest starring in The Bear, landing Bernthal is a huge coup for Netflix and His & Hers, with the star one of the most in-demand and versatile character actors at Hollywood’s disposal. It also marks his return to the streaming service for the first time since 2019 after he played Frank Castle in Marvel adaptations Daredevil and The Punisher, a role he’s reprising on a rival platform in Disney+ sequel series Daredevil: Born Again.

Schrieber was most recently seen as the star of a streaming exclusive, although Paramount+ video game-inspired sci-fi Halo was cancelled after two seasons. There’s more casting information to come imminently, and while there’s no release window even being hinted at quite yet, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume His & Hers is eying a late 2025 or early 2026 premiere on Netflix.

Thompson, Bernthal, and Schrieber make for a solid central trio, and everybody knows twisty thrillers with a murder at the centre are irresistible to Netflix subscribers.
