Jim Jefferies’ stand-up special will premiere on Netflix in February

Australian comedian Jim Jefferies will return to Netflix next month for his fifth stand-up special for the streaming giant. The special, titled High and Dry, will premiere globally on February 14th, just in time for fans’ home-based Valentine’s Day dates.

High and Dry, directed by Scott Zabielski, follows previous specials Jim Jefferies: Bare, Jim Jefferies: Freedumb, Jim Jefferies: This Is Me Now and Jim Jefferies: Intolerant, which aired between 2014 and 2020.

While the new special marks Jefferies’ fourth outing on Netflix, it’s his tenth TV stand-up special overall, dating back to 2008’s Contraband. According to the synopsis, “In the special, newly married and loving life with his wife and kids, Jefferies sounds off on the laziness of koala bears, the injustices of male pattern baldness and the reason why he’ll never drink again.”

Jefferies took on co-production duties for High and Dry in a collaborative effort with Tim Sarkes, Alex Murray, Brian Volk-Weiss and Cisco Henson.

Jefferies is currently busy on the road with his ongoing Give ’em What They Want Tour and devotes much of his time off the road to his popular podcast. I Don’t Know About That with Jim Jefferies.

Elsewhere, Chris Rock is gearing up to make history as the headline act of Netflix’s first-ever live, global streaming programme. The special will stream on March 4th and marks Rock’s second stand-up special for Netflix, his first being Chris Rock: Tamborine, which debuted in February 2018.

“Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation,” Robbie Praw, the Netflix vice president of stand-up and comedy programming, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history. This will be an unforgettable moment, and we’re so honoured that Chris is carrying this torch.”
