Netflix recently released a behind-the-scenes video from the chilly Canadian set of their recent smash hit The Mother. In the video, Lucy Paez (who plays Zoe) and Jennifer Lopez (the titular Mother) talk about how the two bonded during filming. While Lopez pondered about exploring what it means to be a good mom within one’s own capacity, Paez revealed how her on-screen mom took her under her wing.
“I was really nervous and scared, just like Zoe,” Paez said in the video, reflecting on her film debut in The Mother. She added, “So Jennifer treated me like her daughter. She taught me so much, on-scene and off-scene,” speaking of the Emmy and Grammy nominee who portrays Zoe’s mother in the movie.
In this thriller, Jennifer Lopez takes on the role of a retired assassin who is compelled to reenter a dangerous world to safeguard her long-lost daughter from ruthless enemies. Their journey becomes an opportunity to forge the connection they never had. The Mother delivers an intense experience that also serves as a reminder to cherish our relationships with our mothers.
