Jennifer Garner signs on for Netflix Christmas comedy ‘Mrs. Claus’

Actor Jennifer Garner is set to work once again with Netflix, following the films Family Leave and Yes Day, plus the science fiction work The Adam Project, after signing on to produce and star in a Christmas comedy for the streamer called Mrs. Claus.

As of yet, the details of the film’s plot are a secret, although Scrambled’s Leah McKendrick is set to write the script. Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter are also producing alongside Garner through their Hello Sunshine banner.

The actor has recently signed on to star in Fruitcake opposite Paul Walter Hauser, which tells of a middle-class couple who embezzled millions of dollars from the Texas-based business Collin Street Bakery. She’s also producing and starring in The Last Thing He Told Me for Apple and Starz’s Party Down.

In addition, Garner has agreed to reprise her role as Elektra in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which is set to come out on July 26th. The highly anticipated sequel to Deadpool 2 will star Ryan Reynolds in the lead role, Rob Delaney of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Emma Corrin.

Garner had recently announced the passing of her father, William John Garner, who died at the age of 85. In an Instagram post, she said that he died peacefully and left behind a “loving legacy.”

“We were with him, singing ‘Amazing Grace’ as he left us (did we carry him across or scare him away – valid question),” Garner wrote. “While there is no tragedy in the death of an 85-year-old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life, I know grief is unavoidable, waiting around unexpected corners.”

“Today is for gratitude,” the actor added. “We are grateful for Dad’s gentle demeanour and quiet strength. For how he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of all in, ever patient girl dad. We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership and faith.”
