Jay Shetty launches Perfect Strangers, strikes Netflix deals for two series

Author, entrepreneur, and podcaster Jay Shetty, famously known for On Purpose, is finally entering the world of TV and movies with his new production company, Perfect Strangers. But that’s not all. Perfect Strangers has already inked a deal with Netflix for two projects, and you need to hear it out.

According to an exclusive Variety report, citing a statement made by the company, LA-based Perfect Strangers aims to produce movies, TV, and podcasts dedicated to “telling stories that remind us we’re not alone. “Perfect Strangers is the home for stories that show how connected we already are.”

With the company already securing two Netflix deals, firstly, viewers can expect a scripted series to come their way. The first one is in development, while the other one is an unscripted series. Besides these, Perfect Strangers is also expanding a broad slate of movies and series.

The company has a yet-to-be-released podcast, currently in production, and several podcasts underway. As for Shetty’s On Purpose, it remains a part of iHeartMedia’s iHeartPodcasts network. His company’s podcast grid gathers musicians, actors, athletes, founders, creators, experts, and thinkers for “honest conversations that make you laugh, go deeper, and think ‘I’ve felt that too,’” according to Perfect Strangers.

For those uninitiated, the former monk born in Britain is a massive social media sensation who uploaded his first video on Facebook and YouTube nearly a decade ago. He subsequently went super viral, and with each passing day, his fandom expanded.

“I didn’t know where it would lead, I just knew I wanted to make ancient wisdom more accessible to a modern audience,” Shetty explained in a statement. Cut to 2019, Shetty doubled down on his mission by launching his very own podcast, On Purpose with Jay Shetty, with a goal to make the world “healthier, happier, and more healed.” “And now, through Perfect Strangers, I’m expanding that vision to make people feel less alone and show us how connected we all are.”

Shetty stressed that the importance of connectedness is now more crucial than ever. While he also expressed gratitude, having witnessed the influence of what they’ve made so far, with Perfect Strangers, he’s even more excited about what awaits the future.

Joe Hooten will serve as head of film and TV for Shetty’s Perfect Strangers company, in charge of development and production of projects. He has over seven years of experience working with John Wells Productions, where he was involved in projects such as Untamed, Maid, Shameless, and Rescue: Hi Surf. Meanwhile, Nicole Berg, who has been working with Shetty for the last four years, will serve as the creative director.

Although details about the Netflix projects remain scarce at this point, don’t forget to check back later for additional updates because this is going to be huge.
