Jamie Dornan will play two roles as mysterious twins in a new Netflix series

Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan has been confirmed in the lead role of a forthcoming crime drama on Netflix. The Undertow will see the actor take on two roles as a set of identical twins.

The new drama series is an English-language adaptation of the popular Norwegian programme Twin. Handling the roles of Lee and Adam, Dornan stars alongside Mackenzie Davis, who portrays Adam’s wife, Nicola.

According to the official synopsis, the story takes a dramatic turn when a “terrible accident” forces Nicola to protect her children by drastic measures. In the dicey aftermath, Lee and Nicola wind up together, trying to disentangle a web of lies and deceit.

Since Lee looks exactly like his brother, Nicola soon finds it difficult to ignore her feelings of visceral attraction. However, “both know they’re living on borrowed time.”

Further to his acting role, Dornan takes on executive production duties. Joining him and Davis on the cast are Iain de Caestecker of The Winter King and Gary Lewis of Vigil. The series is directed by showrunner Jeremy Lovering.

Twin, the Norwegian series that inspired The Undertow, arrived in 2019 and starred Kristofer Hivju as twins Erik and Adam. Hivju is best known for his previous role as Tormund Giantsbane on HBO’s Game of Thrones

The Undertow is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2025, with filming beginning this year. The streaming platform announced the exciting project on its official Twitter/X page. “Jamie Dornan will play the roles of identical twins (yes – TWO JAMIE DORNANS!!),” the post read, “and Mackenzie Davis will play his wife in this new crime noir series, which goes into production this year!”
