Hulk Hogan was reportedly shooting a Netflix documentary before his death

Popular culture dealt with two back-to-back blows last week. First was the loss of the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, followed by the heartbreaking demise of WWE legend, Hulk Hogan. According to World Wrestling Entertainment, professional wrestler Terry Bollea passed away on Thursday, at the age of 71, after succumbing to a cardiac arrest. And as per CNN, Hogan was allegedly shooting a Netflix documentary at the time of his death.

The Netflix documentary, in association with WWE, will revolve around Hogan’s storied career and starry life, documenting both on and off the screen. According to CNN, the filming is currently ongoing. Although the release date remains under wraps, sources linked with the project have confirmed that fans can rest assured that it will be released, honouring Hogan’s lifelong legacy.

The Hulk Hogan documentary remains untitled for now. However, a source closely associated with the project revealed that it has been in the works since last year. In fact, over 20 hours of never-before-seen interviews with Hogan have already been filmed.

An additional 30 hours of scenes have been shot. The documentary has been filmed with Hogan’s commitment and participation. Speaking of the untitled documentary and its content, the source told CNN, “People will see a side of him they haven’t seen before.”

The documentary has no release window in sight. But Hogan’s unfortunate and unexpected death now requires creators to “re-tool proportions of the documentary.” The source opened up about a WWE SmackDown homage for Hogan, scheduled for Friday.

Bryan Storkel is directing the untitled Netflix documentary. Connor Schell’s studio, Words + Pictures, will produce the film alongside WWE. Puck was the first to report on the Hogan documentary.

For those unaware, Hulk Hogan had been a household name in the world of WWE, one of those who catapulted it to global sensation. The news about his death has the pop culture landscape mourning like never before. In a recent news conference, police and fire personnel in Clearwater, Florida, clarified that there were no signs of suspicion behind his death. While a standard investigation is currently ongoing, fans can expect Netflix to shed more light on the documentary sometime soon.
