Hit Netflix series ‘Kaos’ cancelled after only one season
The Netflix comedy series Kaos, which arrived on the streaming service earlier this year, has been cancelled after just one season.
Created by Charlie Covell, Kaos borrows its premise from mythology, placing three humans amidst the chaos of the Greek gods. Covell previously worked on The End of the F***ing World. Jeff Goldblum starred in the show as Zeus, while Stephen Dillane took on the role of Prometheus. Janet McTeer, David Thewlis and Aurora Perrineau also featured in the first season.
The first instalment of Kaos hit Netflix on August 29th, receiving mixed responses from fans. Nevertheless, the series made its way into the top ten most-viewed series on the platform in its first week of streaming. The final episode of Kaos was left on a cliff-hanger, suggesting another instalment might be in the works.
Following the release of the first season, the stars and creators of the series spoke about the possibility of continuing the story. Covell suggested that Netflix had been “very supportive of it,” during a chat with Cosmopolitan. However, Kaos has now been cancelled after just one season.
One of the stars of the show, Aurora Perrineau, took to social media to share a statement following the cancellation of the show. “Well… this one hurts,” she began, “I find explaining how I’m feeling to be really difficult, but I’ll try.”
“When I started auditioning for this show,” she recalled, “I knew it was special, mainly due to the fact that Charlie Covell’s scripts resonated with me in a way most things hadn’t. I knew all of these people, and I loved them all — every flaw, everything.”
Perrineau shared her pride in the project and in her own involvement, suggesting that she felt seen by Kaos. “A girl who’s not only a minority but also a survivor of SA — and you’re telling me that someone thinks I could be one of the leads of a show, have agency, my own mission, and be desirable enough to be the love interest to not only one amazing human but two? I was worthy of that?” she shared.
Perrineau went on to share her appreciation for the cast and crew of the show, concluding, “We made something weird, dark, hilarious, deranged, and absolutely tragic — something entirely human. THIS is a feeling I plan to take with me. Thanks for letting me be your Riddy. I had the time of my life!”
