Halle Berry's directorial debut Bruised to release on Netflix

Halle Berry’s immense contribution to the field of acting for nearly thirty years will now see the actress donning the director’s hat for the very first time. According to her official tweet, Berry is set to complete her directorial debut and release her first-ever film on Netflix on November 24, 2021.

Bruised had a worldwide premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2020 and is set to be streaming on Netflix soon. Berry stars in her feature as Jackie Justice, the lead character of Bruised. The film sees Justice, a fallen fighter, battle against all odds to face a deadly adversary while trying to grapple with her six-year-old son’s return in her life.

The MMA sports drama flick is poignant and emotionally charged and sees Berry in a strong, unbeatable avatar.

The film also stars Shamier Anderson as the MMA league owner who encourages Berry’s character to keep up the fight.

The rest of the cast includes Adan Canto, Sheila Atim, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Valentina Shevchenko. A former Muay Thai and a professional MMA fighter, Schevchenko serves as Berry’s rival in the fight.

Berry, who underwent immense training, expressed her gratitude and ecstasy via her Twitter. She shared how special this project was to her, given it is her directorial feature and the subject matter, which was close to her heart.
