‘Grown Ups 3’ is finally coming to Netflix after 13 years with Adam Sandler
Grown Ups 3 actually happening after thirteen years feels insane. Insane! Because it’s been so long and people have almost lost. Many thought the franchise was done forever after the second movie back in 2013, then Netflix randomly decided to announce it on a random Thursday. But who cares whether it has been thirteen years or not, because we are getting the movie?
And if you grew up watching Adam Sandler films, then you already know exactly why people are excited about this. The Grown Ups movies were never complicated. Nobody watched them for deep stories or emotional life lessons. You stuck them on because watching Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade and Rob Schneider behave like complete idiots for two hours was dead funny. Half the film’s basically grown men yelling at each other and turning family trips into disasters. Simple stuff… but it worked every single time.
That’s probably why the movies stayed popular and relevant for so long, too. Every time they land on streaming again, people end up rewatching them. You tell yourself you will watch ten minutes, and before you know it, the whole film’s finished. But that’s the whole MVP of Sandler comedies. And now that Netflix has basically become the home of Adam Sandler films anyway, bringing back Grown Ups makes so much sense.
Especially after Happy Gilmore 2 blew up online. The second people saw Sandler reviving older films again, fans immediately started asking for Grown Ups 3. And fair enough because streaming’s been packed with dark dramas and serial killer stuff lately. Meanwhile, Grown Ups is the polar opposite of that. It’s a bit easier to watch after a stressful day, isn’t it?
What could happen in Grown Ups 3?
Netflix still hasn’t confirmed the official plot yet, but come on… nobody’s expecting some massive mystery story here. The first film followed Lenny Feder reuniting with his old childhood friends after their basketball coach died, while Grown Ups 2 had everybody back together again after Lenny moved his family home.
Now, though, loads of time have passed, which means all the kids from the older films would basically be adults now. So you can already imagine where the comedy’s probably heading. Embarrassing dads trying to stay young, family disasters, weddings going wrong, middle-aged men getting injured doing stupid stuff they’re obviously too old for now… proper Grown Ups vibes.
And let’s be real, that’s exactly what fans want from these films anyway. Nobody’s asking for serious storytelling here. People merely want to see the group back together, causing problems again. We have Kyle Newacheck directing the film this time, while Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy are writing the script again. So if you liked the first two movies, the third one’s probably gonna have the exact same vibe. Loads of shouting, ridiculous arguments and grown adults behaving worse than children, and we are invested.
Who could return for Grown Ups 3?
Official casting still hasn’t been announced yet, but fans are obviously expecting the main group to come back. Adam Sandler returning as Lenny feels guaranteed, while Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider are all massive parts of the franchise too.
And honestly, loads of people remember the side characters nearly as much as the main cast. Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, Steve Buscemi, and Nick Swardson became fan favourites after the first two films, so viewers are already hoping Netflix brings so many familiar faces back again.
Plus, Sandler always works with the same actors anyway, so nobody would be shocked if random Happy Madison regulars suddenly appeared throughout the film, too.
When will Grown Ups 3 release on Netflix?
Netflix still hasn’t confirmed an official release date yet, so nobody should expect the movie anytime soon. Since the project only recently got announced, we are assuming 2027 or, if you’re lucky, late 2026.
Still, though, people are already massively excited because the older Grown Ups films never really disappeared from streaming. Clips from the movies still go viral all the time, and after waiting thirteen years, getting the whole gang back together again sounds dead fun already.
