‘FUBAR’ season two ending explained
Netflix knows all about festive offerings. Because without that knowledge, FUBAR season two wouldn’t have premiered ahead of the Father’s Day weekend. While the streaming giant always stays a step ahead of its counterparts, this Father’s Day, it completely hit it out of the park with the highly anticipated second instalment of FUBAR, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro.
Season one was built on Luke and Emma’s secrets, unaware that they are both CIA agents. However, season two commences with Luke, his family, and his covert team “suffering from serious cabin fever while cooped up in a safe house.” It’s quite a jump, but by the end of season two, they might have to pause and leap further because this instalment isn’t just action-packed; it’s a power punch of the highest standard.
One of the most important things FUBAR does in the second season, although a little too late, is lift the lid on Dante Cress. Dante is the mysterious adversary with a diabolical plan to disrupt the US power grid and spark World War III with Russia. Throughout the series, he orders Greta and Chips. Yet, it isn’t until episode eight that we see the dark force manipulating from the shadows is none other than Chips.
Chips wasn’t exactly exempt from suspicion, especially as an ex-MI6 agent. But it still took time for the reality to sink in.
So, who exactly was Dante Cress in FUBAR season two?
Despite the scepticism around Chips, who turns out to be Dante Cress in episode four of FUBAR season two, he was someone who was initially a captive in Luke’s team of CIA operatives. The former MI6 agent turned into Greta’s soldier of fortune, and his adept deception almost had everyone convinced that he’s not the same any more. But the cat comes out of the bag in the season finale, thanks to a monologue that unmasks the villain to Emma.
Disillusioned by his father’s selfish choices, he fantasises about rebooting humanity with Emma as his Eve. However, she knows better. As a result, she ends up capturing him inside the rocket’s launchpad, meant to start a battle with Russia. That said, what happens to Greta?
Does Greta make it out alive in FUBAR season two?
Out of all the people involved in the mission in FUBAR season two, Greta and Luke are the only ones aware of the missile’s obsolete control system. In order to neutralise the missile, one of the two must get inside the pod, but Greta doesn’t let Luke go in, suggesting he has a whole life with family ahead of him. This was a moment of revelation. The truth finally clicks into place when Greta realises Luke’s heart belongs to Tally and his family, which leaves no room for a second chance with her.
After Greta’s sacrifice, her survival was almost unlikely. But when Luke and Emma visit the site, they see Greta emerging from the debris of the pod. While rekindling was never in the cards for her and Luke, was it in Tally’s destiny?
What happens to Luke and Tally in FUBAR season two?
Luke and Tally’s marriage seemed to be rocky throughout the season. But as it turns out, it was just a scheme orchestrated by Dr Pfeffer to fill Greta with hope of reuniting with Luke and accomplish the mission. “We just knew that at the end of the day, Tally and Luke couldn’t really break up, so we had to give a misdirect. It worked well,” Nick Santora told Tudum. The season ended with Luke proposing to Tally.
What about the others from FUBAR?
As for the remaining members of Luke’s team, Roo is promoted to regional director and might have even hit it off with Airman Mendez. But the luck is not on Cater and Donnie’s side, who again go into hiding after taking out the wrong minion. Aldon’s characteristic growth was visible. However, his future with Emma looks even better. However, things don’t look that great between Barry and Tina, who journey to Finland for a prisoner swap with Great Dane.
When Great Dane narrates his story, Barry realises that Tina fed wrong information to the Russians. The brighter side is that the likelihood of their romance being real, but the fact that Tina is now captive, doesn’t leave him a lot to celebrate. For those curious about Hamsteak, he’s found a home with Luke and Tally’s granddaughter.
