Therefore, instead of fidgeting now and panicking later, we decided to cover our tracks while there’s still time.

Although Netflix is no longer rolling out true-crime documentaries every week, that’s not a good enough reason to pull the plug on viewers’ weekend marathon.

So, if you’re already waiting with bated breath, here are four true-crime documentaries on Netflix you can easily finish within a weekend.

The Carman Family Deaths (Yon Motskin, 2025)

Netflix dropped some of the most shocking true-crime documentaries in 2025, including The Carman Family Deaths. Clocking in at a crisp 90 minutes, the Netflix docufilm chronicles a 2016 disappearance at sea that eventually became a chilling true-crime tale.

In September that year, 54-year-old Linda Carman and her 22-year-old son Nathan set sail on an overnight fishing trip from South Kingstown, Rhode Island, only to go completely out of reach for a friend she was supposed to contact the next day. The mother-son duo were subsequently reported missing, prompting a Coast Guard search spanning approximately 62,000 square nautical miles.

But eight days later, Nathan was seen drifting alone in a raft about 100 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard, which led to his rescue. Linda was never found, and the cops’ eventual interrogation of Nathan only raised further eyebrows. The Carman Family Deaths centres on the tragic yet bizarre case that links Linda’s disappearance back to Nathan’s wealthy grandfather, John Chakalos’ unsolved murder in 2013.

My Father, the BTK Killer (Skye Borgeman, 2025)

Directed by Skye Borgeman, My Father, the BTK Killer is yet another jaw-dropping true-crime documentary released last year. It centres on Kerri Rawson, whose life was upended with an unthinkable discovery when she learned her father, Dennis Rader, is one of America’s most infamous serial killers.

Despite appearing as an unassuming church congregation president and former Cub Scout leader, Rader committed ten ruthless murders between 1974 and 1991. He was only arrested in 2005 during his lunch break, and the truth turned unsuspecting Rawson’s life upside down in more ways than one.

My Father, the BTK Killer, chronicles the true story of the notorious serial killer who adopted the moniker BTK (bind, torture, kill) from his daughter’s perspective. The true-crime documentary captures the lasting effects of Rader’s crimes on his family and community as Rawson acknowledges the possibility of more victims while recounting childhood memories that hold hidden trauma.

Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story (Skye Borgeman, 2025)

Also directed by Skye Borgeman, Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story details the unbelievable child abuse case involving Utah life coach Jodi Hildebrandt and YouTuber Ruby Franke. The documentary uses actual security footage of Franke’s malnourished 12-year-old son escaping Hildebrandt’s southern Utah home to open the film, where the child had duct tape residue and open wounds on his wrists and ankles.

He was caught on camera approaching a neighbour for food and police assistance, which led to the rescue of Franke’s nine-year-old daughter, locked inside in a similar condition.

Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story shifts focus to Franke, who originally ran a family vlogging YouTube channel with her husband called 8 Channels. It explores how Hildebrandt, a disgraced former therapist turned internet life coach, entered the scene and everything unravelled.

Untold: The Shooting at Hawthorne Hill (Grace McNally, 2026)

Untold: The Shooting at Hawthorne Hill is a relatively recent true-crime documentary compared to the previous ones that made the cut. The gripping documentary examines the shocking 2019 conflict and trial of former Olympic-level equestrian trainer Michael Barison, who allegedly shot his dressage student Lauren Kanarek twice in the chest.

Kanarek survived the shooting, and Barisone was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Untold: The Shooting at Hawthorne Hill recounts the trajectory leading up to the terrifying confrontation, focusing on the retired Olympian who ran an elite training facility on the titular farm in Long Valley, New Jersey.

Lauren arrived at the farm, full of a competitive spirit, but relations grew increasingly sour over training schedules, living arrangements, and farm rules. But when the feud spilt digitally, the unthinkable took place.
