Netflix has been shedding light on some of the darkest true-crime stories in 2026, and halfway through the year, all we can say is that there’s more on the way.

While the streaming giant is already waiting on a huge lineup of gripping new documentaries this month, Best of Netflix has curated a binge-worthy list that can easily be completed in just a weekend for those struggling with a time crunch.

Although the list is not August-exclusive, the titles are from the recent roster that you may have missed due to work pressure.

So, if you’re ready, well, so are we, with four new true-crime documentaries to watch on Netflix within a weekend.

Four new Netflix documentaries to binge this weekend

The Crash (Gareth Johnson, 2026)

Directed by Gareth Johnson, The Crash on Netflix details the chilling 2022 true crime that left the Strongsville community in Ohio in utter shock. On the morning of July 31st that year, a car driving at a speed of 100 miles per hour rammed into the side of a building, killing two. The driver was 17-year-old Mackenzie Shirilla, who was driving back home from a graduation party with her boyfriend, Dom and their friend Davion, when the horrifying incident took place.

Although the crash was largely presumed to be a tragic accident, as investigators dug deeper into the case, everything they thought turned out to be wrong. What had initially come across as a twisted, unfortunate play of fate evolved into a full-fledged investigation into a calculated crime. The Crash chronicles the true crime investigation into the shocking collision that left Shirilla the sole survivor.

Maternal Instinct (Jessica Dimock, 2026)

If The Crash leaves you at a loss for words, you’re probably not ready for the horror that awaits in Maternal Instinct. Directed by Jessica Dimock, the unsettling true crime story revisits a terrifying incident of fake pregnancy that ruined multiple lives at a time. The Netflix documentary follows the story of Taylor Parker, who intricately wove a web of lies to trap a local hog trapper, Wade Griffin, in a small East Texas town.

As the relationship moved fast, so did the racket of lies, from claiming to have come from a wealthy family to confessing to a pregnancy and sharing fake baby bumps on social media. While the lies alone may have caused emotional devastation, Maternal Instinct explores how far Parker went to prove her claims, resulting in a cold-blooded crime that will send chills down literally anyone’s spine.

A Toxic Love Story (Alexandra Lacey, 2026)

Another equally unbelievable true-crime documentary that’s currently on everyone’s lips is A Toxic Love Story from Alexandra Lacey. The Netflix Original movie spotlights one of the most alarming miscarriages of justice in recent history with the story of Michelle Hadley, former US Deputy Marshal Ian Diaz, and his wife Angela Connell Diaz. The story primarily centres on newlyweds Ian and Angela in Anaheim, California, who reportedly began receiving threatening emails from an anonymous sender.

The harassment allegedly didn’t stop at that, as allegations of someone impersonating Angela and responding to Craigslist ads luring men into their home also emerged. Soon, the eyes of suspicion were all on Ian’s ex-fiancé, Hadley, who was put behind bars for an awful 88 days for a crime she didn’t even commit. A Toxic Love Story is a chilling exploration of intense obsession, extreme manipulation, and a shocking frame-up that will make you pull your hair and ask: Who is the actual villain?

Inside the Trustor Scandal (Karin af Klintberg, 2026)

The final stop on our weekend true-crime marathon is Karin af Klintberg’s Inside the Trustor Scandal, which investigates the 1997 acquisition of the Swedish investment firm Trustor AB, resulting in a high-stakes financial fraud. The film chronicles how a group of five associates joined forces, including Joachim Posener, and used Trustor’s own money to buy a controlling stake in the company, pulling off a scam worth 600million SEK.

Klintberg tracks down the primary suspect in the massive financial fraud, Joachim Posener, who evaded the Swedish authorities and Interpol for nearly 30 years. However, Inside the Trustor Scandal goes into a detailed inspection of what actually happened and how the fraud took place, featuring an interview with the most-wanted Posener, who comes out of hiding after three decades.
