Florence Pugh to star in Netflix psychological thriller ‘The Wonder’

Florence Push has been cast as the lead in Netflix’s forthcoming psychological The Wonder, based on a novel of the same name from Room writer Emma Donoghue.

Pugh will take on the lead role of nurse Lib Wright. The period thriller sees her travel to the Irish countryside where she witnesses an 11-year-old girl live for months without taking on any food or sustenance.

The story centres around this strange story and how the media and tourists who flock to see the miracle girl brings the nurse and young girl together in a transformative way.

The project is still very much in the pre-production stages with only Florence Pugh announced in casting so far with Alice Birch confirmed for screenplay duties and Ed Guiney and Tessa Ross producing the project.

Elsewhere, Pugh is also set to star alongside Harry Styles in the forthcoming Olive Wilde-directed thriller, Don’t Worry Darling, and she took to Instagram to sing the praises of Harry Styles’ willingness to star in a female-led project.

More announcements are expected on The Wonder in the coming weeks. For now, you can check out a trailer for Emma Donoghue’s previous novel adaptation Room, which landed Brie Larson an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
