Five steamy movies for your next ‘Netflix-and-chill’ night

OK, hear us out. You and your partner, cold nights, no plans, just a couch and Netflix. There’s no better opportunity for a perfect ‘Netflix and chill‘ night. And who doesn’t want to watch something deep?

Nobody wants dramas that make them cry or thrillers where they have to keep up with hundreds of plot twists. You need something… vibey. A little sexy, a little moody, a little oolala! Stuff that’s made for blankets that “accidentally” shift (wink, wink).

Lucky for you, Netflix is packed with movies that know what they are doing. Like, you put one of these on, and the room changes. You lean back a little, look at each other a little longer; maybe no one makes it past the halfway mark… and that’s fine. That’s kind of the point.

And it’s not just random steam either. These are movies with taste. Great actors and interesting plots, but also, like, people who look like they have never had a bad lighting day in their life. Hot people making bad decisions in slow motion? Two, please.

Anyway, we have got the picks ready. Five films that bring the heat without trying too hard. Movies, purely made to not finish.

Five steamy movies for Netflix-and-chill

Duck Butter (Miguel Arteta, 2018)

Okay, so imagine this: two women meet at a bar, hit it off fast, and decide they are going to skip the awkward texting stage and just live 24 hours together. Zero filters, just a raw connection. Sounds cute, right? Wait until it turns into sex, arguments, kissing, breakdowns, more sex, more talking. It is wild. And very, very naked.

Duck Butter is just as smooth as its name and is quite raw. The chemistry is real, and that’s what’s required to make movies with such storylines successful. And don’t worry, the camera doesn’t look away, and neither does the plot. You feel like you are sitting way too close, and honestly, that’s kind of the point. It’s intimate and romantic in the weirdest way. But most importantly, it is one of those movies where you blink, and bam! Everyone’s shirt is gone. But also, it is soft and searching; you know, in that indie-film way. Not a safe choice. Just a better one.

Dry Martina (Che Sandoval, 2018)

The movie starts with Martina, who used to be a big deal. She was not just a singer but a sex symbol and a total firecracker. But now? She is kind of emotionally dried up. Nothing excites her, nothing moves her, not even sex. Then a random girl shows up claiming to be her long-lost sister… and brings along her painfully hot boyfriend. Plot twist? That guy might be just what Martina has been missing.

This isn’t a love story. It’s a fucked-up, unapologetically horny little ride. Everyone is complicated, and nobody is behaving. But Martina… She loves every bit of it. And the bonus part is the soundtrack, which is low-key perfect. Put this on when you want something loose and a little off-kilter.

Happy Ending (Joosje Duk, 2023)

So this Dutch couple is celebrating their one-year anniversary. They are cute and give those comfortable and safe vibes. All that until the girlfriend confesses she has never had an orgasm. Boom. The entire vibe shifts. And he, being the sweet, shocked man he is, suggests they try a threesome. You can probably guess how that goes. Or you can watch the film open up beautifully.

Happy Ending looks like a rom-com, but it definitely doesn’t act like one. The scenes are very up-close, and everything feels too real. It’s about safe intimacy, but it’s where everyone is exposed, and not just the bodies. Watch this with someone you like looking at. And maybe pause halfway through… You know, just in case. Because you will either end up having a conversation or turning it off for very different reasons.

Elisa & Marcela (Isabel Coixet, 2019)

The film is set in 1901 Spain and is based on the true story of two women who were so in love that one literally pretended to be a man so they could get married. Sounds romantic, right? Well, that’s not just romantic; that’s historical rebellion. It’s a bit of a slow watch, but once it gets going? Whew.

Elisa & Marcela is a lot about candlelight and glances that last too long. And it does not shy away from the physical side of all that tension. Black-and-white visuals, passionate stares, forbidden love, stolen beds. This is the steam that simmers bay. It’s a perfect watch when you want to witness some action in corsets.

Mea Culpa (Tyler Perry, 2024)

This Netflix movie begins with a defence attorney who agrees to take on this moody, gorgeous artist accused of murder. Red flags everywhere. But she is drawn in anyway. And when I say ‘drawn in’, I mean lines get blurred with a capital B. Fast and often. There’s a lot of “you shouldn’t be doing this” energy, and then they do it anyway. On desks. In showers. Literally everywhere.

Well, technically, it’s a legal thriller, but the courtroom scenes are honestly just breathers between the tension you actually came for. Kelly Rowland plays it with her magnetic energy, while Trevante Rhodes just… exists like that. Way too tempting. Turn this on if you like things a bit “forbiddenly”.
