Five shows to watch while you wait for ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4

It has been over a year since Bridgerton season three swept through our screens, and now, people, we are finally in December 2025, just a month away from season five. Can you believe it? The countdown feels real this time. The gowns, the drama, the stolen glances across ballrooms… oh, the whole show! We are so close we can almost hear the violins.

But damn, the wait. This is that awkward in-between phase where you have rewatched everything, dissected every dialogue, and maybe even considered writing a fan theory or two. And still, we are not quite there yet. We are stuck in limbo, aren’t we?

That’s why we need a little something to hold us over. Not a replacement (nothing replaces Bridgerton, let’s be honest), but something that brings the same feeling. The tension, the elegance, the sharp stares across long hallways. We are talking about shows that understand restraint, longing, yearning and letting emotions unfold without rushing.

So here is what we are doing. While we wait for Lady Whistledown’s next drop and the next big scandal to shake the ton, we have rounded up five shows that’ll keep your heart full and your soul still very much in the Bridgerton zone. Ready? Let’s go.

Five shows to watch while you wait for Bridgerton season 4

The Lady’s Companion (2025)

Oh, people, if you are missing the powdered wigs and whispered scandals of the ton, let us direct your gaze to Madrid, 1880s, to be precise. Elena Bianda arrives not with a fan or a title, but with a job: find husbands for the Mencia daughters. Sounds simple? Hardly. These girls are a whole handful. They are sharp, they are spirited, and above all, they are shockingly modern.

Cristina reads more than she gossips, Sara flirts with reckless ease, and Carlota is pure mischief. As if managing them weren’t enough, our dear Elena finds herself falling, wait for it, for one of the suitors. Yes, it’s drama layered with loads of temptation. You will smile, gasp for sure, and maybe even find yourself shouting at the screen. A perfect watch while you wait for the next Bridgerton sibling scandal to unfold.

The Law According to Lidia Poët (2023-)

Now, if your soul lights up every time Penelope Bridgerton picks up her quill, Lidia Poët is the woman you need next. Set in 19th-century Italy, Lidia becomes the country’s first woman lawyer… only to be immediately disbarred. Why? Because men. But don’t worry, she doesn’t sit quietly and do nothing about it.

With a brain sharper than any corset pin and a wardrobe just as delicious as Eloise’s best looks, Lidia takes on cases outside the legal system, fighting for the wrongly accused. It’s courtroom drama decorated with a fashion parade, with the occasional scandalous glance thrown in. If you are craving brains and boldness, with just a little forbidden romance, this show is bound to keep you thoroughly entertained.

House of Guinness (2025-)

Ahh, one of the finest of Netflix from 2025. From Italy, let’s hop across the sea to Ireland and into the drama-filled drawing rooms of the Guinness family. After their wealthy father passes, the four Guinness siblings are left to handle a brewing empire. They are dealing with massive expectations while a society is on the brink of rebellion. Yes, it’s pure historical family pressure.

Think of it as Bridgerton meets business. There are affairs, betrayals, lots and lots of sibling drama, and so much tension that you will find yourself clenching your fists at times. Oh, and the costumes? Still divine. If you’re missing the weight of responsibility that hangs over the Bridgerton kids but want something a touch darker, this one will pour just right. “Pour”, you get it?

The Empress (2022-)

Alright, you love a good royal romance. Well, who doesn’t? So while Queen Charlotte still rules our hearts, let us not forget Elisabeth, the Bavarian beauty who becomes Empress of Austria. She marries Emperor Franz Joseph, and let’s just say… the chemistry is very much present. The longing glances alone? Delicious.

What makes this story so lovely is that it is so much more than just romance. Elisabeth wants more than fancy titles. She wants freedom and passion! A life that’s hers. And navigating all of that inside a palace full of rules? It’s as dramatic as any Bridgerton duel. In short, if you miss the romance with tension and stunning gowns of Bridgerton, The Empress will not disappoint.

Outlander (2014-)

And finally, dear reader, if what you seek is a sweeping romance with high stakes, Outlander is your next great obsession. Claire, a World War II nurse, touches a set of mysterious stones and ends up in 18th-century Scotland. Yes, time travel. No, she is not prepared.

She meets Jamie: tall, handsome, loyal and the two of them go through literal wars and heartbreak and still manage to be madly in love. It’s fiery, and it’s emotional. There is drama, danger, a little bit of magic, and the epic storytelling that makes your own problems feel delightfully tiny. Bridgerton may be posh and polished, but Outlander? She will absolutely ruin your sleep schedule.
