Five perfect limited series to binge this weekend

Black Rabbit (Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, 2025)

The buzz surrounding Black Rabbit has been too loud to ignore, but it makes sense with Hollywood veterans Jude Law and Jason Bateman teaming up for the intense thriller. The limited series recently hit the Netflix shelves on September 18th. It follows an up-and-coming restaurateur, Jake Friedkin, who has built the hottest spot in New York City’s nightlife, a high-end diner and VIP lounge, Black Rabbit, that’s looking to expand.

But when his troubled brother Vince returns to business, his life of peace and, simultaneously, his thriving business are threatened to be upended as true to his ways, he brings chaos on his coattails. So, if you have weekend plans that don’t have room for Law and Bateman, change them already.

Beauty and the Bester (Netflix Production, 2025)

Conceived as both a limited and documentary series, Beauty and the Bester explores an infamous criminal case that received massive public attention in South Africa. The three-part series examines the mysterious connections between the convicted killer Thabo Bester, notoriously known as the ‘Facebook Rapist’, and celebrity doctor Nandipha Magudumana.

The Netflix miniseries chronicles how Bester used social media as a tool to target his victims and how he managed to throw dust in the authorities’ eyes with a sudden prison fire that initially claimed to take his life. Beauty and the Bester is rising through the ranks on Netflix’s weekly chart and has the audience completely glued to their screen. In case you’re new to it, dive into the true-crime world of Bester and Magudumana’s heinous ways.

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty (Jang Tae-yoo, 2025)

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is an ongoing South Korean fantasy series that airs weekly on Saturdays and Sundays, meaning you can practically turn it on and still have the story awaiting you every weekend. The romantic drama revolves around a present-day French cuisine chef of South Korean origin, who is at the peak of her culinary game.

Caught in an unexpected glitch in the matrix, she is transported into the past, where she stumbles upon a king who’s the ultimate connoisseur of food and also the worst ruler, infamous for his repressive means. Currently ranked number one in the global non-English TV shows chart on Netflix, this fantasy drama has turned out to be the most-enjoyed cup of tea. If you’re yet to join the club, make sure you bring an appetite (and some snacks).

The Dead Girls (Luis Estrada, 2025)

Succeeding Bon Appétit, Your Majesty in the top ten global non-English TV shows chart on Netflix is another limited series that has viewers in a tie-down: The Dead Girls. With a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, the series is based on Jorge Ibargüengoitia’s book, Las Muertas, chronicling a fictionalised version of the true events of the crime network of human trafficking run by the Baladro sisters in 1960s Mexico, who eventually became notorious serial killers.

As one of the most talked-about shows among recent releases, the series deserves to be on your weekend watchlist. The chances are you’ll mistake it initially for a love story, only to be in for the most haunting shockers awaiting later.

Maledictions (Daniel Burman, 2025)

As a three-episode limited series, Maledictions doesn’t even need the entirety of your weekend to leave you intrigued. With each episode running for 35 to 50 minutes, it easily fits the bill of your days off watch. Although it’s a political thriller, Maledictions strikes the perfect balance between the personal and the political. The story revolves around the kidnapping of a provincial governor’s daughter and how the case is resolved.

Despite the compact format, the Argentinian series is not short on substance. If you’re expecting rushed storytelling, you’re in for quite the surprise. Camped with the curious twinning of secrets and betrayal from the ones most trusted, the show has also found home on Netflix’s weekly top ten charts. So, if you’re looking to end the marathon with a bite-sized thriller, this should be your last stop.
