The Netflix library is currently in full swing with the streamer dropping titles left and right. For the last two weeks, it hasn’t allowed users a minute’s respite. However, this is not a September special. The schedule is about to get busier with October inching closer than ever, and these are the five Netflix releases you need to keep an eye out for.
With a little less than a week to go for this month to end, Netflix subscribers already have their hands full. But here’s a fair reminder to get those marathons checked off your list because Netflix is making entertainment bigger and better in October.
The festive season may still be far. But the festive aura on Netflix can be felt without a miss. So, for those who thought the streaming giant was crushing it for a special reason these last two weeks, consider that as a drum roll for what’s to come.
To help you not miss out on what Netflix has to offer next month, here’s a lowdown on the five ultimate releases you need to watch out for in October.
Five Netflix releases you need to keep an eye out for in October
Monster: The Ed Gein Story (Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, 2025)
A lot has been said about the Monster anthology series, but a lot more is left with The Ed Gein Story nearing its release. The third instalment of Netflix’s Monster series tells the story of serial killer Ed Gein, who lived in 1950s rural Wisconsin with his mother. With Charlie Hunnam helming the show as the titular notorious murderer, The Ed Gein Story revolves around the criminal who inspired Hollywood for decades. Think Psycho, The Silence of the Lambs, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
Netflix already dropped a spine-chilling trailer, which is proof enough that the audience will be seated this October. So, in case you had plans, keep the schedule free on October 3rd because, believe it or not, the monster is awakening.
Steve (Tim Mielants, 2025)
Cillian Murphy has brought many characters to life, whether it’s the iconic Thomas Shelby or the unforgettable J Robert Oppenheimer. But for Steve, he’s slipping into a never-before-seen occupation, that of a head master. Based on Max Porter’s 2023 novella Shy, Steve follows the story of a head teacher on a mission to prevent the impending closure of a reform school.
The film already had a TIFF premiere and is currently available in select theatres. But for those waiting on the Netflix release, save the date for October 3rd.
The Woman in Cabin 10 (Simon Stone, 2025)
If you love the brand of thriller that messes with your head and questions your sanity, keep an eye out for Simon Stone’s The Woman in Cabin 10. Since Netflix dropped the intense trailer of the movie based on Ruth Ware’s novel, the buzz has only been growing louder by the minute. But once you hear the premise, you’ll understand it is not without reason.
The Woman in Cabin 10 revolves around a journalist tasked with the cover story of the maiden voyage of a luxury cruise. But the luxe soon starts to crawl on her skin when she witnesses a passenger falling overboard, and no one believes her. With answers far more puzzling than the situation, the Netflix film lands on October 10th. So, make sure not to miss this one at any cost.
The Monster of Florence (Stefano Sollima, 2025)
Netflix’s cinematic library is expanding with each passing day. And so is its limited series catalogue, which adds a new Italian true-crime show, The Monster of Florence, on October 22nd. The Netflix series recounts the origin of the Monster of Florence case, revisiting the initial investigation to chronicle the most controversial and prolonged inquiry in the country’s history.
With just four episodes, the Netflix project borrows from real ongoing legal documents. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival last month and has long become the talk of the streaming town. In case you were out of the loop, now you exactly know what to watch out for.
A House of Dynamite (Kathryn Bigelow, 2025)
While you’re busy filling your sack with crime and psychological thrillers, save some room for a political one with A House of Dynamite, also coming to Netflix in October. Slated for a Netflix release on October 24, the political thriller revolves around the tense state of the US government amidst a crucial response to a nuclear missile launch that’s been pulled off by an anonymous rival.
The trailer already offered a sneak peek into the bubbling suspense that A House of Dynamite is about to greet viewers with. And with Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson joining forces for this project, it certainly won’t happen without a bang for sure.
