Five Netflix releases to watch out for this week

Untold: Jail Blazers (Sascha Gardner, 2026)

Premiering April 14th, Untold: Jail Blazers is the third part of Netflix’s acclaimed sports documentary series, which returned earlier in March with Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom, followed by Untold: Chess Mates. The sports docu-series revisits the conflicted era of the Portland Trail Blazers, the NBA team stacked with All-Stars during their rise in the early 2000s.

While the team’s performance and victory streak put them on the map, leaving fans mesmerised, their off-court lives garnered extensive media attention due to unrelenting controversies. Untold: Jail Blazers features firsthand accounts from star players, including Rasheed Wallace, Damon Stoudamire, and Bonzi Wells, among others, alongside archival footage and insider perspective, providing an unfiltered look at a team caught in the crossfire of genius, glory, and notoriety.

BEEF (Lee Sung Jin, 2024-Present)

Netflix’s Emmy-winning anthology series, BEEF, is returning with its long-anticipated second season on April 16th. And this time, expect twice the chaos with a new, high-stakes beef on the horizon. The second season of the hit Netflix series tells the story of a Gen Z couple, Ashley and Austin, lower-level staff at a country club, who accidentally witness an alarming dispute between their millennial general manager, Josh, and his wife, Lindsay.

For the longest time, both couples have been seeking the approval of the club’s billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park, who has her own fair share of marital drama to begin with. But now, with the younger pair armed with information they weren’t supposed to know, only BEEF season two will tell how it impacts the professional and personal dynamics involving the characters at the centre of the Netflix drama series.

Dandelion (Daisuke Mataga, 2026)

Anime fans would be delighted to know that the anime series adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi’s debut manga, Dandelion, is coming to Netflix on April 16th. The supernatural comedy series revolves around two angels on a mission to help the deceased move on. It primarily follows members of the Japanese Angel Federation’s Send-Off Department, Tetsuo Tanba and Misaki Kurogane, who are tasked with locating anxious earthbound spirits to help them transition in the afterlife.

Although most angels are motivated to close their cases as soon as possible, the 21 Division’s Dandelion Clan handle things differently. They try to lend an ear to each spirit’s regrets, assisting them to resolve what’s holding them back. Dandelion follows Tanba and Kurogane’s pursuit to ensure spirits overcome personal regrets, against a backdrop of clashing themes of redemption and closure.

Ronaldinho: The One and Only (Luis Ara, 2026)

Also releasing on April 16th is a Netflix original sports documentary from the streamer’s Brazilian slate, Ronaldinho: The One and Only. If you’re a football fanatic or a sports enthusiast, you simply cannot afford to miss out on this. The three-episode miniseries examines the extraordinary career and journey of one of the greatest football players of all time, former Brazilian star player Ronaldinho Gaúcho.

Ronaldinho: The One and Only features never-before-seen material, offering exclusive access to his present-day private life and testimonials from legendary football players such as Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, Roberto Carlos, Gilberto Silva, Felipao, and Carlos Puyol, among others. It tells the story of a boy from Porto Alegre whose larger-than-life dreams became a reality in the world of football as one of the greatest players the sport has ever seen.

Roommates (Chandler Levack, 2026)

Lastly, to pack up the highlights of the week, Netflix has Roommates to do the honours on April 17. The laugh-out-loud comedy follows Devon, a reserved first-year college student who meets free-spirited, overtly extroverted Celeste at their outdoor orientation program. Opposites do attract, and despite their increasingly contrasting traits, once they reach campus, they become inseparable.

As Devon and Celeste navigate freshman-year chaos, complete with all things “firsts,” their friendship witnesses classic moments that strengthen their bond. But as time passes, Devon grows irritated and quite distrustful of Celeste. Roommates follows their dramatic fallout during spring break in Panama City, exploring the peak level of crazy that roommates can truly drive you.
