Five Netflix releases to watch out for this week
Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials (Chriss Sweeney, 2026)
Netflix is starting strong this week with the release of the highly anticipated adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials from a script written by Chris Chibnall on January 15th, and there’s no way you can skip this. Set in 1925 England, the upcoming murder mystery opens in a lavish country house party where the charming Gerry Wade hints at his intentions to propose to Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent.
But when the next morning she discovers him still unresponsive in bed despite the cacophony of seven alarm clocks simultaneously buzzing inside his room, Bundle is somewhat taken aback to find her future fiancé dead. Despite warnings from friends and local superintendents about the dangers and risks surrounding the cold-blooded murder case, Bundle is a victim of her habits and by that, we mean, a go-getter. So, if you want to witness Bundle go and get the murderer, don’t forget to tune into Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials this Wednesday on Netflix.
Love Through a Prism (Kazuto Nakazawa, Tetsuya Takahashi, and Saki Fujii, 2026)
If you’re interested in time travel this week, Love Through a Prism has got you covered. Set in early 1900s London, the forthcoming net animation series follows a Japanese exchange student, Lili Ichijoin, who travels all the way to England to study at the elite and prestigious Saint Thomas Art Academy. While she’s determined to become a painter, her dream doesn’t come without obstacles.
If Lili fails to rise to the top of her class within six months, she has to return home. Although her motivation visibly accelerates when she comes across prodigal aristocratic student, Kit Church, her resilience also takes a clear shift to something about him that goes beyond just mutual admiration for each other’s art. Love Through a Prism is also scheduled to drop on Netflix on January 15 with the Agatha Christie adaptation. So, plan accordingly.
Can This Love Be Translated? (Yoo Young-eun, 2026)
Don’t know about snow, but love is surely in the air this week. While it’s hard to tell whether Netflix is preplanning too, about Valentine’s week, it’s never too early to celebrate love. Can This Love Be Translated is a brand-new K-drama, scheduled to premiere on January 16 on Netflix, which follows polyglot interpreter Joo Ho-jin, who prefers to keep two-hand distance from his own emotions.
Although there’s nothing in the world he prioritises more than exactitude, his quality of preciseness takes a backseat when he accepts a gig as an interpreter for a dating reality show, unprecedently reuniting with Cha Mu-hee, a now-famous actor he previously met before her fame on a trip to Japan. Ho-jin is asked to be an interpreter between Mu-hee and Japanese actor Hiro, who would travel to the world’s most romantic destinations. But in the process of translating the language of love, will Ho-jin’s own emotions get lost in translation?
The Rip (Joe Carnahan, 2026)
If you’re someone who’s craving something fast-paced that packs a punch, the long-awaited action thriller, The Rip, co-led by the dynamic duo Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, is coming your way this Thursday, January 16th. The crime thriller reunites the duo as Miami cop buddies who find themselves in a tricky position after their team discovers $24million tucked away in a derelict stash house.
Although they’re required by law to count the figure before leaving the venue, the first challenge is to survive the night and, most importantly, each other. Since the discovery of the cash, the trust between them has already begun to crumble. But whether they live another day, you can only find that answer when The Rip drops this week.
Undercover Miss Hong (Park Seon-ho, 2026)
Lastly, to wrap up the weekly marathon of new releases, Netflix has scheduled Undercover Miss Hong for January 17th. The workplace comedy series takes viewers back to 1997 Seoul, where an elite securities inspector, Hong Keum-bo, goes undercover, disguised as a 20-year-old junior employee at a dubious investment firm.
While there, Keum-bo must navigate unrelenting workplace chaos, ulterior motives, and setbacks with some hard-hitting comedic twists as she probes into financial corruption. Since every good feast on Netflix comes with a dessert, we thought, how can you ever really go wrong with a comedy K-drama? So, happy weeklong streaming!
