Five more shows to watch if you loved ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4

We believe you’ve all watched the first volume of season four of Bridgerton by now, and now there’s nothing left but to wait for the second. Netflix really had the audacity to give us only four episodes when things were finally starting to get interesting, and now we are all stuck trying to process everything without a single resolution in sight.

Come on, Netflix, the chemistry in this season was just getting bolder. We saw the characters shifting gears, and for some reason, every storyline felt like it would explode.

Colin has finally started seeing Penelope for who she is instead of whatever version he had in his head, and it is throwing everything off balance. Francesca’s storyline has taken a very different turn, Benedict is out here doing… well, whatever he is doing, and Eloise still carries that big “I’m over it” energy. Oh, and Sophie Beckett showing up right before the screen went black? That is some serious criminal behaviour.

So while we all wait in agony for volume two, here are five shows that will at least keep your heart rate up till the next Bridgerton drop.

Five shows to watch if you loved Bridgerton Season 4

Queen Charlotte (2023)

If you have not watched Queen Charlotte yet, stop everything and go fix that. It is literally the origin story of half the drama in Bridgerton, and it goes way harder than you expect. Young Charlotte gets thrown into royal life with King George, and it starts all fancy and arranged-marriage-y, but then turns into this whole emotional rollercoaster where you are rooting for love but also kind of scared for them the whole time.

And the actors? Insane chemistry. Like, painful levels. The scenes between India Amarteifio and Corey Mylchreest are so intense; trust us, you will forget to blink. Plus, you get so much backstory on Lady Danbury and Violet, and everything makes sense now. The show is a full emotional attack, but this spinoff is worth every penny. It makes Bridgerton hit different.

Old Money (2015-2020)

This is not a historical drama, but it reads like one. Old Money drops you into this cold, snobby Austrian family where no one says what they mean. You have got almost every scene layered with secrets and silent judgment that only billionaires can pull off. It is slower than Bridgerton, but the payoff is so worth it because everything here will feel personal. Every word, every glance. It’s all calculated. At some points, the tension will make you scream, and it is very important that you do that.

It is also visually stunning in that luxury-rich way where even their problems look expensive. And the family drama? Petty and way too real. So if you like your drama elegant but ruthless, this one is for you. It is like watching a dynasty decay beautifully. And when you are done, you will genuinely miss being stressed about other people’s inheritance wars.

The Road to Love (2019)

On the surface, this Colombian series is about a biker girl trying to escape her family business and figure herself out. But give it two episodes, and suddenly you are holding your breath over her decisions. The Road to Love is full of high-stakes romance and impulsive decisions (OBVIOUSLY), but at the same time, you will witness people trying way too hard not to fall in love. And they all fail. Gloriously (hell yeah).

The tone of the show is emotional, but it would be wrong to call it sappy. You get pulled into her journey, and after a while, you start embracing her mess. If Bridgerton was about corsets and stolen glances, this one is about leather jackets and risking it all. Not historical, not royal, but the romantic wreckage? Feels just as intense.

Boys Over Flowers (2009)

This is the K-drama that introduced so many people to the genre. It follows a working-class girl who gets into an elite school run by these four ridiculously rich boys, and yes, one of them ends up being way too interested in her. It is packed with drama, school fights and jealous exes. Basically, everything that we look forward to watching in a typical K-drama.

The main character has that stubborn energy. She gets crushed, but she keeps going anyway. The show looks a bit dated now, but it still delivers all the moments that get you hooked. Perfect if you want something addictive for a school-based love story. Because once you start, it is impossible to stop.

The Secret Life of My Secretary (2019)

If you want something lighter, The Secret Life of My Secretary is the perfect pick. It is about a boss who loses his ability to recognise faces after an accident, and the only person he can still identify is his secretary. She pretends to be someone else to help him out, and everything gets complicated. But it’s not all about the office drama because romance is the key element here. And the leads have surprisingly great chemistry.

It is a fun mix of awkward interactions and small moments. And don’t think that because of the slow-sounding plot, this show will drag. It doesn’t. It is sweet, and it makes office politics feel watchable for you. Definitely not your usual romance, but if you are into fake identities with emotional romantic drama, you’ve got to binge it.
