Netflix may not have The Devil Wears Prada or The Princess Diaries, but if you are in the mood for some on-screen Anne Hathaway magic, then the streaming giant offers quite a selection.

From playing the princess of the fictional Genovia to the tragic Fantine, Hathaway has showcased her versatility as an actor time and time again. In this Netflix binge guide, we have curated five Anne Hathaway films perfect for your weekend movie marathon.

While Netflix may not have some of Hathaway’s earlier iconic roles, this list of films is still essential. Whether you’re in the mood for laughter, tears, or suspense, this Anne Hathaway movie marathon has got you covered.

Five essential Anne Hathaway films to binge on Netflix this weekend:

The Intern

Directed and written by Nancy Meyers, The Intern pairs Hathaway with the legendary Robert De Niro.

The film revolves around the unique bond formed between a senior intern (De Niro) and the young CEO of a fashion startup (Hathaway). As they navigate the challenges of the modern workplace, The Intern delivers a decidedly heartwarming tale of intergenerational friendship.

Les Misérables

In Tom Hooper’s musical drama Les Misérables, Hathaway takes on the role of Fantine, a struggling factory worker.

The film, based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, explores themes of justice, redemption, and love against the backdrop of post-revolutionary France. Hathaway’s performance in this musical masterpiece earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her rendition of the iconic song ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ is hauntingly emotional.

The Dark Knight Rises

As the conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises features Hathaway as Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman.

Hathaway’s portrayal of this iconic comic book character adds a layer of intrigue to the film, which follows Bruce Wayne’s return as Batman to face a formidable new adversary, Tom Hardy’s Bane.

Dark Waters

Directed by Todd Haynes, Dark Waters is a gripping legal thriller based on a true story. Hathaway stars alongside Mark Ruffalo, who plays a corporate attorney uncovering a major environmental scandal involving a powerful chemical company.

The film explores themes of environmental activism, corporate greed, and the fight for justice. Hathaway’s role as Sarah Barlage Bilott, the supportive wife of the protagonist, adds a human touch to the intense narrative.

Bride Wars

In the silly buddy comedy Bride Wars, directed by Gary Winick, Anne Hathaway shares the screen with Kate Hudson.

The film revolves around two best friends turned rivals as they unintentionally schedule their weddings on the same day at the coveted Plaza. While Bride Wars is not a serious watch, it is, after all, one of Hathaway’s string of early noughties comedy successes. So, this one’s for the nostalgic elder Millennials and the younger Gen Z who crave the simple times they never experienced, just like Rosie from Leave the World Behind.
