First look at Leo Reich in Lena Dunham’s new Netflix series ‘Too Much’
The much-awaited first look at Lena Dunham’s upcoming Netflix series, Too Much, starring Leo Reich, is here. The streaming platform released a carousel of photographs touting the show as a “rom-com for the disillusioned”.
The show’s production will see Dunham’s production company, Good Thing Going, join hands with Working Title Television, known for We Are Ladyparts and About a Boy. The series is slated for a July 10th release.
The plot revolves around Megan Stalter, known for her remarkable performance in Hacks, who stars as Jessica, a compulsive worker in her mid-thirties living in New York. Following a breakup in ‘The Big Apple’, she moves to London with her mind set on living a life like a “Brontë sister” in solitude.
But nothing goes as planned when she meets Felix, played by Will Sharpe. Although he’s seemingly just a walking red flag, Jessica is drawn to the unusually magnetic connection she feels with him.
Stalter and Sharpe are joined by a stellar cast, with some big names being Richard E Grant and Rita Wilson, both of whom have worked with Dunham before on Girls, alongside Naomi Watts, Emily Ratajkowski, Adwoa Aboah, and Leo Reich.
In 2022, Reich first made headlines with his debut stand-up comedy show Literally Who Cares?!. The special was nominated for ‘Best Newcomer’ at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards and was soon released as an HBO special. His parody of Gen Z’s quirks and entitlement definitely made Reich a memorable face. Too Much will be his first role as an actor.
Alongside the show, Reich is also collaborating with left-field production house A24 to work on a six-part sitcom for Channel 4 called It Gets Worse. The comic announced the show in February, proclaiming it to be for all those who have lived through the irritating and delusional age of 24.
Dunham, who is also known for the controversial and forward-thinking Girls, first ideated Too Much with her husband, British musician Luis Felber, who has co-written and directed the series with her. To take this collaboration a step further, Felber’s band Attawalpa has also provided the music for the show.
