Every film and series leaving Netflix this week: June 2024

With the summer solstice behind us, the nights have begun to draw in, and we start the steady descent to the dark depths of Christmas. As we approach the latter half of the year, there are plenty of new Netflix originals and newly added classic titles to look forward to. Sadly, with every hello, there is a goodbye.

Earlier in June, we said goodbye to seasons 27 and 28 of the beloved motoring show Top Gear, Steven Spielberg’s 2018 sci-fi movie Ready Player One, and David Leitch’s Brad Pitt-starring action comedy Bullet Train. However, the scythe is far from finished.

As usual, on the final day of the month, the most significant number of titles will be removed from Netflix. This time around, several seasonal favourites are sent packing, including the children’s Halloween movie Hotel Transylvania and the five Elm Street movies. Therefore, fans of Freddie Krueger’s slashing mayhem have only a week to complete the franchise.

Following some highly impressive viewership stats last Christmas, Netflix has also decided to take the festive favourite The Holiday down on June 30th. While the romantic comedy is unlikely to return to the platform for Christmas 2024, Netflix will undoubtedly make room for more holiday season classics in its place.

Quentin Tarantino enthusiasts also have just a few days left to enjoy the two volumes of Kill Bill on the platform. It’s worth noting that the assiduous filmmaker considers Kill Bill a single film divided into two parts, reflecting how he originally shot the epic. This approach allows him room for one more film to complete his self-imposed ten-movie limit. Therefore, it would be wise to ensure you have seen both volumes by the time they depart.

However, it isn’t all doom and gloom for Tarantino fans. Tarantino’s latest film, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, will continue to be available, and given his enduring popularity, his other films are likely to return to the platform’s content cycle eventually.
