Fan favourite 'Fate: The Winx Saga' cancelled after two seasons

Netflix has cancelled Fate: The Winx Saga after two seasons. The show initially debuted in January 2021 for a run of six episodes before its second season premiered in September 2022 for an additional seven episodes.

The live-action remake of the popular children’s cartoon starred Abigail Cowen, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Eliot Salt, Elisha Applebaum, Precious Mustapha, Freddie Thorp, Danny Griffin, Sadie Soverall, Theo Graham, Robert James-Collier and more.

Despite the show’s success, a third season will not go ahead. When the second season was released, Netflix’s viewing statistics from September 5-11 revealed that Fate: The Winx Saga was the second most-watched English-language television show and third most-watched overall, only outranked by Cobra Kai and Narco-Saints. The season also remained on the streaming service’s top 10 list for five weeks straight.

Creator, showrunner and executive producer Brian Young announced the show’s cancellation on Instagram, writing: “This is not fun news to share, but Netflix [has] decided not to move forward with Season 3 of Fate: The Winx Saga. This is especially tough because I know how many of you loved this season.”

He continued, “It’s a heartbreaking silver lining, but a silver lining all the same. I’m so proud of everyone who worked on the show, and so happy we got to tell the stories we did. Our cast and crew put in a ton of hard work creating this world and these characters. I’m grateful for each and every one of them, and for all of you for watching. It’s been an amazing four years. Hopefully, we’ll see each other again in the future.”
