Deon Du Preez, the supervising location manager for the series, raved about the beauty and versatility of the Welsh filming locations to inews. “It’s a goldmine of opportunity!” he exclaimed. Wales, with its diverse landscapes and settings, offered the perfect backdrop for the show’s coming-of-age storyline.
The heart of Sex Education’s filming locations is the stunning River Wye, nestled within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This area provides the backdrop for various key scenes in the series. Brown’s General Store in Llandogo stands in for Brown’s Supermarket, while Eric’s residence is portrayed by a house in Old Farm House Mews. The fairground scenes come to life at Vauxhall Fields in Rockfield Road, Monmouth, while the Duke of Beaufort Iron Bridge in Monmouth becomes “the bridge” in the latest season.
Symonds Yat in the Forest of Dean, a location previously featured in the Harry Potter series, makes several appearances in Sex Education. Iconic locations, such as Otis and Jean’s home, are situated along the riverside.
South Wales also plays a significant role, with scenes filmed at The Paget Rooms in Victoria Road, Penarth, serving as the school hall. Swimming action unfolds at Newport International Sports Village, and Otis can be seen using the running track at Cwmbran Stadium in Henllys Way, Cwmbran.
Where is Cavendish College in Sex Education season four?
Cwmcarn Forest, nestled in the heart of the South Wales valleys, doubles as the road to Cavendish College. The St Fagans National History Museum, located on the outskirts of Cardiff, serves as the setting for the new sixth-form college.
Near Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire, a local caravan park becomes Maeve’s home, while the old University of Wales campus in Caerleon, near Newport, is transformed into Moordale High.
The School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol becomes the canteen at Cavendish College, where the gang tries to fit in following the closure of Moordale.
