Constructed through untold memories from close friends and family, never-before-seen art, and archival imagery, the docu-film “demystifies the story of Basquiat and rediscovers the man behind it all, Jean-Michel.”

How is Basquiat’s family involved?

The Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat has strongly supported and given the green light to the Jean-Michel Basquiat documentary. For those unaware, this marks the first-ever documentary approved by the artist’s estate, co-administered by his sisters Jeanine Heriveaux and Lisane Basquiat. “We, his family, are deeply proud to see Jean-Michel’s full humanity brought to light with such care, intention, and respect,” they say.
