Netflix is gearing up for a gripping new serial killer mystery series, Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole, featuring the fabled anti-hero Detective Harry Hole, which promises to transport viewers into Oslo’s darkest corners.
Coming your way in spring 2026, the series will be directed and executive produced by Øystein Karlsen, who tells Tudum, “It is a great mix of a fast-paced whodunit and a genuine drama with real people and lives viewers can relate to – and it has more twists and turns than I can remember having seen in any thriller series.”

What is the plot?
Created by Jo Nesbø, one of the most acclaimed crime fiction storytellers, the Netflix series is a serial killer mystery, with the legendary anti-hero, Harry Hole, at the centre – a genius, but troubled homicide detective struggling with demons of many kinds. Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole tells the story of two police officers who operate “on opposite sides of the law.”
In the first season, Hole locks horns with his longtime nemesis, the severely corrupt detective Tom Waaler, as the two find themselves navigating the presence and absence of ethics in the criminal justice system. But whether Hole makes it in time to catch the serial killer and bring Tom to justice is something only time can tell.

Detective Hole is based on Nesbø’s Harry Hole book series. The first season of the Netflix series adapts his fifth book, The Devil’s Star.
