Liz Moore’s best-selling 2024 novel, The God of the Woods, has gotten a series order adaptation from Netflix with Moore and Liz Hannah helming the project as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers.

What is the plot?
The God of the Woods is based on the New York Times best-selling 2024 novel of the same name, which, in its DNA, is an intergenerational drama set in the Adirondacks. The series primarily revolves around the Van Laars, a wealthy family plagued by dark secrets, class hierarchies and social anxieties, following the disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp.
The vanishing takes place in the aftermath of a painstaking previous family tragedy, which may be somehow interrelated. But as the past and present clash, the family’s wealth and influence begin to crumble down against the backdrop of devastating consequences of unchecked privilege and abuse of power.
