Everything you need to know about the Netflix holiday movie ‘Jingle Bell Heist’

Netflix is preparing for the holiday season with a new Christmas heist movie.

Netflix has already given us an epic fall season with back-to-back hits like Wayward and Monster: The Ed Gein Story. Viewers have been hooked on crime, mystery, and dark secrets and the charts are proof. Now, as the festive months approach, the platform is switching moods with a brand-new holiday film titled Jingle Bell Heist.

As the snow starts to fall and fairy lights take over timelines, Netflix knows it’s time to trade its serial killers for Christmas cheer. But this year, the streamer isn’t just repeating its usual heartwarming formula… It’s adding something a little unexpected.

After months of viewers bingeing thrillers, Jingle Bell Heist arrives as Netflix’s way of blending both worlds. It keeps the warmth and romance of a classic Christmas film but wraps it inside a daring holiday heist set in the glittering streets of London.

The title alone is a giveaway that this isn’t your typical holiday watch. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

What is Jingle Bell Heist about?

The movie follows Sophia Martin (played by Olivia Holt), a young woman who moves from Philadelphia to London to take care of her mother after a cancer diagnosis. Life abroad isn’t what she expected. She comes to bills piling up, which her two jobs aren’t sufficient for. On top of that, her mother’s surgery isn’t covered by insurance. Out of options and out of patience, Sophia decides to rob her awful boss, Maxwell Sterling, played by Peter Serafinowicz.

Her plan goes sideways when she’s caught by Nick O’Connor (Connor Swindells), who is a former security consultant. He is also struggling to make ends meet after a messy divorce. So, instead of turning her in, Nick proposes something wild: teaming up. Together, they plan a Christmas Eve heist at one of London’s most glamorous department stores. But as they plot their “perfect” crime, the two realise the biggest problem isn’t the risk, and it’s their growing feelings for each other.

Who is in the cast and crew?

The film stars Olivia Holt (Heart Eyes) and Connor Swindells (Sex Education), with a supporting cast that includes Lucy Punch, Peter Serafinowicz, Poppy Drayton, Michael Salami, and Natasha Joseph.

Jingle Bell Heist is directed by Michael Fimognari, known for To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, written by Abby McDonald (Bridgerton) and Amy Reed (Diary of a Future President). The combination of a romantic-comedy sensibility with a heist twist makes this film one of Netflix’s most interesting festive releases yet.

Is there a trailer available?

Not yet. Netflix hasn’t released the official trailer for Jingle Bell Heist, but given the film’s late-November release, it should drop soon. You can expect plenty of festive sparkle, and since the film takes place in London, it’s going to rule.

When does Jingle Bell Heist release on Netflix?

The movie will premiere globally on November 26 this year on Netflix. Just in time for the start of the holiday season, it’s set to bring a little thrill to the year’s cosiest watchlist.
