Netflix’s collection of exciting sports documentaries is getting an upgrade with an upcoming entry focusing on heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson, titled TYSON.
TYSON will explore the life and career of the “Baddest Man on the Planet,” using archival footage and first-hand interviews with the prolific boxer, who also faced Jake Paul in the boxing ring at Netflix’s first-ever live boxing event in 2024.
Directed by Floyd Russ, whose Netflix credits include Untold: Malice at the Palace, he also executive produces the documentary.

What is the plot?
TYSON is a forthcoming Netflix documentary chronicling the life and career of Mike Tyson, known as the youngest heavyweight champion in history. The cultural icon’s legacy is not limited to the boxing ring, having been one of the most controversial yet appealing entities the world has ever witnessed. The four-part series tracks his skyrocketing rise as the “Baddest Man on the Planet,” further shedding light on his private struggles, including “a period of incarceration and widely publicised struggles (i.e. finances, substance abuse, in-ring controversies) and eventual redemption.”
Who is in the crew?
Appearing in the documentary is the man himself, Mike Tyson, who opened up about the series during the announcement. “Having an opportunity to share my story through the reflective lens of my growth and maturity in a multi-part documentary on Netflix will be a challenging journey, yet a very welcoming one,” he says. “Most people are too scared to look at their lives objectively, wanting to paint themselves as the hero of their own story. But if we are truly objective, we know we can never be the hero in our story.”
EverWonder Studio, DLP Media Group, and Five All In The Fifth co-developed the documentary with Ian Oreface of EverWonder Studio, Jim Gray of Scratchy Productions, Michael Hughes and Greg C Lake of DLP Media Group and Douglas Banker of Five All In The Fifth executive producing it.
