Just days into October, and Netflix is already busy curating an equally intriguing November watchlist, with a highly anticipated entry shaping up: Taiwan’s first-ever emergency department medical drama, Miracles of the ER.
The Taiwanese drama follows a passionate, highly skilled team of doctors and nurses as they tackle life-and-death situations daily.
Directed by Isaac Li and Huang Ching-tsu, the Netflix Original series is produced by Jade Lee. Speaking of the series, Li told Tudum, “We wanted to push the boundaries of Taiwanese medical drama. Our hope is to create a series rooted in Taiwan, with human stories and issues that resonate across Asia, and perhaps give viewers something to reflect on.”

What is the plot?
Miracles of ER is a Taiwanese medical drama that follows Associate Director of Emergency Medicine at Yang-Da University Hospital, Chou Cheng-jun, who makes an unlikely gamble by accepting Lin Geng-ming, an average medical school graduate. As Lin joins the emergency department as a resident with premier, elite peers Tang Hsi and Chiang Tung-yen, he gives his all to save lives day and night.
With senior attending physician He Yu-hua, the ER team constantly confronts conundrums, unending medical crises, and internal power struggles. Miracles of ER explores the layered dynamics between doctors and patients, and patients and their families, where tension and compassion both take centre stage.
As director-writer Huang Ching-tsu explains, “At its heart, this is a story about ordinary people pursuing their dreams. Through these characters’ growth, we hope to help anyone feeling lost find the motivation to keep chasing theirs.”
