Everything you need to know about ‘Stranger Things’ season 5

Ever since Netflix offered a sneak peek into the Upside Down with the official trailer for Stranger Things season five, fans have barely been able to contain their excitement, let alone the anticipation for what’s to come.

The trailer doubled down on the idea, which was at the core of Dark on Netflix, that the end is the beginning and the beginning is the end, meaning it all comes down to Will Byers. The fifth and final season will be released in three parts, starting this Thanksgiving in November and stretching through the holiday season in December.

But before you get your nailbats and flamethrowers ready, it’s best to be prepared with all the details of Stranger Things season five. The final season wrapped production with teary farewells in December 2024, having begun production in January.

Now that the trailer is here, it’s time to buckle up. So, here’s a rundown of all you should know about Stranger Things season five.

What will it be about?

Following the horrific events of Stranger Things season four, which left Max Mayfield comatose and Hawkins under a military quarantine, the crew is back on their toes to put an end to Vecna’s carnage once and for all. Although every other season opens up with the gang going back to school, the trailer confirms that nothing has been the same since Vecna had Max levitating above her step-brother’s grave.

The trauma of the last season lives on in the characters, but Vecna? It seems like he has disappeared into thin air, leaving the Hawkins gang at the edge of their seats, oblivious to his plans and when he would strike again. Meanwhile, the military quarantine means the government is full-fledged on Eleven’s tail, as a result of which, she has again gone back into hiding. With the fifth and final season, the anniversary of Will’s disappearance comes closer by the minute and along with it, a sense of eeriness creeps on every skin.

“The final battle is looming – and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone – the full party – standing together, one last time,” the official synopsis reads. The season starts with a time jump. So, you might as well buckle up.

What is the episode count? What about the runtime?

Stranger Things season five will have eight episodes. Netflix released the titles on the last Stranger Things Day on November 6th, 2024, the date Will originally disappeared in the first season. As for the runtimes, Ross Duffer clarified that for Volume One, each episode will be around an hour long, with the fourth episode running for an hour and 24 minutes.

What are the episode titles?
