Everything you need to know about season four of ‘Ginny & Georgia’

In a streaming era where long attention spans are deemed a privilege by viewers, Netflix sure knows how to push the limits. Creators and streamers often refrain from stretching their stories too far, lest they fall out of favour with the audience. However, Netflix remains a streaming exception in terms of titles that run more than one instalment. Recently, the third season of Ginny & Georgia had Netflix subscribers scrambling for more, but the streamer knew it well before.

This is why the streaming giant renewed Ginny & Georgia for a fourth instalment when the comedy drama was picked up for a third season. Throughout the series, fans have followed the story of pain-stricken Georgia, who has done almost everything to run from her dark past. But season three was a thematic departure with Georgia finally confronting the consequences of her actions. The culmination of the episodes nearly left viewers reeling, with the biggest question on their minds being whether Georgia ends up in prison.

But now that Ginny & Georgia’s third season is done and dusted, all eyes are on the forthcoming fourth season. Series creator Sarah Lampert knew Georgia needed to kill someone in Wellsbury to jump from season two to three. She explained that she wanted to break the characters in a way that season three offers a chance to rebuild them. But how are they going to continue it in season four?

Well, after the pivotal turnaround of season three, the creators have an idea of what awaits viewers in the future.

All about Ginny & Georgia season four

During the third season finale of Ginny & Georgia, Sarah Lampert confirmed Georgia’s pregnancy. But true to the show’s ways, the question mark remains about whether the father is Paul or Joe. While Georgia has run from her past with her abusive mother and stepfather throughout the show, in the final episode, it’s shown that they slip past Georgia’s Wellsbury home. In this instalment, Georgia’s estranged father also called her from prison, cautioning her that her mother’s version of events was only half the truth.

Additionally, he said that the real reason for his imprisonment is far more complex. According to Lampert, season four’s theme is “Cycles and Origins.” Season four will bring Georgia’s parents to the screen and explore her childhood roots. Furthermore, the trial that saw Ginny and Austin framing his father for a murder that Georgia committed changes her relationship with her children. Despite always putting her children first, when she finally sees a bit of herself in them, she tries to break the cycle by signing up for therapy.

From the get-go, it’s clear that nothing matters to Georgia more than her children. But now that Ginny reeks of Georgia more than herself, viewers are about to encounter a character that they haven’t seen before. Season three culminates with Ginny being closer to her father, Zion, and they take a trip together to Korea. With Zion signing up for joint custody and a brand new Ginny waiting in the wings, a summer comeback is on the horizon for season four.

As for Georgia? The showrunner wants her to grow more in season four. And the beginning of therapy in the season three finale might just be the first step.
