Gal Gadot is well on her way to establishing herself as a bonafide action star. Her latest formulaic action offering on Netflix, dealing with powerful AIs and hackers, Heart of Stone, recently showcased its trailer at the Tudum Global Fan Event in Brazil.
The film also marks the international debut of Bollywood star Alia Bhatt, who plays the main antagonist. Her casting has been met with pleasant surprise among her desi fans, who didn’t expect to see Bhatt in such a pivotal role in the Gal Gadot action vehicle.
Based on a screenplay by Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder and a story by Rucka, Heart of Stone is a spy action thriller directed by Tom Harper (best known for Peaky Blinders).

What is Netflix’s Heart of Stone about?
In an adrenaline-fueled narrative that Netflix banks upon for its mass appeal, international intelligence agent Rachel Stone (Gadot) finds herself thrust into a treacherous mission. Her objective: safeguarding a cryptic and enigmatic artefact called “The Heart” from falling into the wrong hands.
The trailer reveals that the Charter possesses a unique and invaluable asset called the Heart. According to Parker, Stone’s MI6 counterpart, “If you own the Heart, you own the world.” Entrusted with this crucial task by a peacekeeping organisation known as the Charter, Stone must face off with Keya Dhawan, a hacker portrayed by Bhatt, who steals the Heart.
What does Gal Gadot think of Heart of Stone?
Speaking about Stone’s character, Gadot told Netflix, “It was really important to me that Rachel be a character who can fight, but I also wanted her to be able to use her brain, intuition and emotions.
“She doesn’t just run in, guns blazing. She thinks about how she’s affecting people and situations. I choose roles that show that women can be beautiful and strong, and none of this is mutually exclusive.”
VFX supervisor Mark Breakspear told Netflix that the Heart is essentially a powerful AI that keeps track of everyone’s online history and uses that data to predict human behaviour, “The Heart is what’s called a general AI — an AI that can do anything you want it to do, and it becomes a master of that immediately.
“No one has built a general AI yet. And it’s connected to a quantum computer, which processes way faster than an ordinary computer. The Heart is tasked with monitoring all human data, analysing it, looking for patterns and then using those patterns to make predictions. The Charter uses the Heart to look at a given situation and help their operatives plan what to do.”
When is Heart of Stone released?
The Heart of Stone is all set to start streaming on Netflix on August 11th, 2023. And it will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu ensuring desi fans can tune in and enjoy in whatever language they vibe most with.
