Everything you need to know about ‘Emily in Paris’ season five

When Emily Cooper arrived in Paris for the very first time, she was undoubtedly considered an outcast. Yet, neither did she take time to warm up nor to fit in. But by the time Emily in Paris season five comes around on Netflix, fans will have to greet the chirpy couture connoisseur in Rome for a change of scenery. And we were just wondering whether they’re ready with their passports or not.

Speaking of the forthcoming instalment, series creator Darren Star told Tudum, “This season is a tale of two cities: Rome and Paris. Straddling both, Emily takes love and life to the next level.”

But Rome and Paris are definitely not the only cities Emily is visiting this time. Netflix even recently rolled out a brand-new teaser for the love-swoon chapter that awaits this year. Before that, it shared first-look photos showing the smitten protagonist cruising through Venice.

As for the rest of the details, here’s an overview of everything you need to know about Emily in Paris season five.

What to expect from season five?

Emily in Paris season four saw the American expat falling head over heels for the Italian fashion scion, Marcello. It concluded with Emily moving into an Italian apartment to open a new office in Rome for Agence Grateau. However, just because Emily is in Rome, it doesn’t mean the name of the show is changing. “Emily is going to have a presence in Rome. It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris,” Star explained.

So, when the Netflix show returns, there’s a lot to look forward to. Lily Collins was enthusiastic to explore the dynamic between her character and Marcello more vividly. “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily, because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work-life balance. We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time,” she said.

The final moments of the fourth season also had Gabriel hit with a sudden bout of realisation that if he wants to be with anybody, it’s definitely Emily. But whether the epiphany comes too late or not, fans will find out soon.

Who is in the cast?

Collins will definitely return as Emily Cooper, as will Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie Grateau and Ashley Park as Mindy Chen. Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc, William Abadie as Antoine Lambert, Lucien Laviscount as Alfie, Eugenio Franceschini as Marcello, Thalia Besson as Genevieve, Paul Forman as Nico, and Arnaud Binard as Laurent G are confirmed to return as well.

Meanwhile, joining Emily’s Roman holiday this time are Bryan Greenberg as Jake, Michele Laroque as Yvette, and Minnie Driver as Princess Jane, rounding out the cast for season five.
