Everything we know about ‘Vladimir’

Whenever the Netflix window cracks open for an announcement, the buzz is heard worldwide. And since Netflix announced its forthcoming adaptation of Julia May Jones’s best-selling novel, the anticipation for Vladimir has gone through the roof. The streaming giant ordered an eight-episode limited series in March with previously confirmed stars Rachel Weisz and Leo Woodall.

According to Netflix, the Emmy-winning team consisting of Shari Springer Barman and Robert Pulcini is set to direct three episodes. Springer Barman, Pulcini, and Weisz serve as executive producers alongside Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg, and Kira Carstensen for Merman. Jason Winer and Jon Radler will executive produce on behalf of Small Dog Company.

But as the days go on, new names are rounding out Vladimir. However, before jumping on the bandwagon of new castmates, let’s get to know what the story of Vladimir entails.

What is Vladimir all about?

Jones’s best-selling Vladimir, has topped the best book of the year lists of nearly every publication. And with Netflix’s latest take on an adaptation, the hype is growing by the minute. According to Netflix’s official synopsis, Vladimir follows a woman whose life falls apart while “she becomes obsessed with her captivating new colleague.”

“Full of sexy secrets, dark humour, and complex characters, Vladimir is about what happens when a woman goes hell-bent to turn her fantasies into reality,” the scoop read.

Who is in the cast?

The first to join the series was Rachel Weisz, followed by Leo Woodall. But most recently, Netflix roped in John Slatter, Jessica Henwick, and Ellen Robertson as series regulars. Slatter will portray John, Henwick will play Cynthia, and Robertson will portray Sid.

Other than these three, Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Matt Walsh, Tattiawna Jones, and Louise Lambert have joined Vladimir as recurring characters. Fans will see Carter as Lila, Silverman as Florence, Johnson as Edwina, Walsh as David, Jones as Alexis, and Lambert as Dawn in the upcoming limited series.

When does Vladimir come to Netflix?

Netflix hasn’t announced a release date for Vladimir yet. However, multiple tabloids speculate a later 2025 date while some estimate a 2026 release.

Is there a trailer for Vladimir?

As of now, there’s no trailer available for Vladimir. As per What’s on Netflix, filming commenced on July 2nd, 2025, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The shooting is scheduled for completion on September 18th, 2025. So, stay tuned for more updates.
